5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Travel Activity
My 4 1/2 year old daughter received the Leap Pad this past Christmas and it has been one of the best investments ever. We have taken it with us on every trip in the car and it is always great for keeping her occupied. I was very excited to see the Math book. She is really recognizing numbers by sight now and is able to look at a group of objects and not have to count...

2.0 out of 5 stars It's OK....WHEN IT WORKS!
I don't know if it's a defective product or it was known to be defective when sold but even when my daughter and I work around that which is not working - it's still not that great of a LeapPad program.

My 4 1/2 year old daughter received the Leap Pad this past Christmas and it has been one of the best investments ever. We have taken it with us on every trip in the car and it is always great for keeping her occupied. I was very excited to see the Math book. She is really recognizing numbers by sight now and is able to look at a group of objects and not have to count each one, but can tell you how many objects there are in the group. The Leap Pad is an awesome travel activity. We have even taken it with us to visit people in the hospital and it keeps her occupied and she does not keep asking when we are going to leave. Thank you LeapFrog for this awesome invention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Age range should be younger, January 2, 2004

I think a more appropriate age range for this book is from 3 - 5. My 4 1/2 year old is now working with numbers up to 20+. This book would have been better for her a year ago.

my little granddaughter is 4 and loves learning. I saw the leappad advertised [and bought] it. I played with it to see what it was all about and was thrilled with the concept. I ordered 2 more books to go with it to help prepare her for school. I believe it great for parents to help their children with as many parents are not prepared to teach in such an effective manner. I plan to keep giving these book to my granddaughter as she grows. I say bravo!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as much fun as..., June 30, 2004

the other LeapFrog books. I'm sure it has a lot to do that this book revolves around mathamatics, instead of Toy Story or Scooby Doo! All things considered, the only time we use this book is when I "make" my kids use it before they can play with the more entertaining, tv-like books. However, it is educational once they get involved.

I give 3 stars for durability, as I will for all Leap Books, only because the book does not provide storage for the cartridge. It sure would be nice if the books had small plastic sleeves for the related cartridge. We have a number of books and keeping the books and cartridges together are a little tough. The chances of losing the small cartridges will keep my durability rating lower than 5.

Also, the 3 stars for durability is related to a design "flaw". The wire from the pen and the bottom of the book are constant fighting for space. To turn the page, without possibly bending the page, requires you to hold the wire down so it doesn't interfere with the page. Easy enough for an adult to do, however my 5 year old doesn't remember to hold the wire down all the time. 50% of all of our pages have creases in the bottom of the pages...all in the same spot!

This is a good educational toy, but my daughter is too impatient and does not want to listen to all of the instructions for the games. I would also suggest getting a box to put all cartridges and books in so that they can all stay together.

Leap delivers invites for his sister's recital, and gets to count lots of things, in lots of different ways, along the way at each house where he stops. Those numbers on the cover are the house numbers for the invites. The book has a nice music recital page at the end, which is a nice touch.
I am using the leap pad for my 16 mo old son actually, who just loves being read to -- by book number ten, i'm glad to pull out the leap pad and have the book read itself to him. I handle the book, so hopefully safety is not an issue. he holds an old marker with no cap and no tip(no choking hazards that way), to play along.

This is a toy that every kid should have. Not only is it something they enjoy playing with for hours on end and days at a time, but it is also educational. It is helping my daughter tremendously in school. We are able to sit down together to enjoy this toy. We have now ordered more of the books and are looking forward to more books they come up with. My 1 month old son will really benefit from this toy also.
