2.0 out of 5 stars A Disturbing Book - a review of "First Grade Can Wait", June 22, 2006
This review is from: First Grade Can Wait (Hardcover)
I don't know what I expected from this childrens selection, but it wasn't a book about how Luke was going to be stuck in Kindergarten for a second year because he didn't know his alphabet, could play with only one other select child, and couldn't pay attention at story time. [And the negative messages keep rolling on. There are lots of things Luke apparently can't do.]

I mean what sort of message is that for children?!?

Certainly some children aren't ready at six for first grade (my husband and I certainly fretted over this question), but do these children need a book about what they can't do? And are children who "are" moving on to first grade going to find this a savory topic. It was creepy.

One Star. This book might give valuable insight to an adult, but I found it too disturbing to read to my children.
