The First interview it is a very useful tool for mental health students, counselors and psychologists. Generally, I believe that this book offers important and crucial information about the clinical interview and how to conduct an interview. The structure of the issues as well as the chapters are very well situated in the book. Every chapter introduce you gradually to the technical issues.
Additionally, the four appendix at the end of the book are very helpful to the clinician since the author exhibits useful points of the interview, your own assessment and a thoroughly appendix as far as the questions at various mental health disorders . Taking everything into consideration I strongly insist this book for the above reasons. e.g. The services of the Amazon team was excellent from the begging till the final stage.

disappointing,

This review is from: The First Interview, Third Edition (Hardcover)
This book promised to be the best ever for learning how to conduct the all-important first interview. However, despite the sample dialogues between therapist and patient, it is a bit unsophisticated and simplistic, and not appropriate for professional use. There is no formula that works in the real world.
I found the book terribly disappointing.

I haven't finished the book, but at the moment it's very informative on the intricates that are required when interacting with a patient. I recommend this book to any newly grad student who is about to enter the practicum setting.
