I wish I had read all the reviews on etoys.com before buying this item. I bought this last year for my then 6 year old, who is crazy about dinosaurs. I knew he would need adult help assembling it, but I never expected the shocking quality of this product. The moment we opened the box, my husband and I discovered that the pieces, which are made of layers of pressed wood, were falling apart! The layers of wood on each piece were acually peeling and chipping. Then, the product wasn't smooth. They provide you with sandpaper to smoothen the edges, as part of the paleantology fun I guess, but when you try to do that the pieces chip and peel even more! Finally, when we did get it assembled (which took 45 minutes of both my husband and I working together), it wouldn't stay put! The pieces don't fit together well, and it isn't well balanced, and kept collapsing minutes after being reassembled. My son was so disappointed he didn't want to play with it after the first hour. I didn't return it to Amazon.com because I had got it on sale for only $9.99, and it was cost me a lot to ship it back since it is very heavy. It has been buried in the closet ever since, and my son has never asked to play with it again. This is a very good idea that went awry on production, so please don't waste your money.

Fun, unique garden accent, August 23, 2008

This is too wobbly to really use as a children's toy that would be built and taken apart repeatedly, but I stained the dinorsaur a cherry color, glued it all together with wood glue, and then applied a weatherproof polyurathane. It's now outside as a garden accent nestled among my ferns that visitors (and myself) are delighted by.
