The crew of the First Light enjoy the first safe harbor since they departed Freeground. The crew and ship are being actively sought after by bounty hunters, Vindyne allies and other, hidden dangers lurk just out of sight. A new ally, Captain Wheeler, who was given a similar mission to the First Light over thirty years ago is assigned to aid them in their next mission. Imaginative and well written, this book takes well established science-fiction tech and refines it, then wraps it in to some seriously amazing storylines. Yes, I said storylines. There are enough unexplored areas in the First Light's world to keep Mr. Lalonde writing for the rest of his career. The basic 'world' rules and back-story are laid out in an almost seamless manner as the story unfolds. Lacking the expected jitteriness of back-and-forth you see in a lot of new authors, characters are developed in an orderly narrative. The scenes and dialogue are both believable and absorbing with none of the grammatical and structural issues commonly found in self-published books. The tactical/battle scenes are well described and create an easy suspended-disbelief which will keep most readers on the edge of their seats through-out the process. If you are a late night reader, prepare for a couple of rough days at work, it's hard to put this one down. All technicalities aside this story is what my brother would call "a fun ride!" I can't wait for more from this up-and-coming author.

About the Author

Randolph Lalonde has worked in customer service, sales, played drums for several heavy metal bands you've never heard of, dealt blackjack in a traveling casino, been in business doing everything from selling collectibles to repairing and building computers. He refined much of his story telling abilities over twenty years of Live Action and Table Top Game Mastering. He's hosted games in many worlds including; Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars, Rifts, Heroes, Shadowrun, Vampire, Werewolf and many others. He also plays World of Warcraft when he has time. His first published works were in the fantasy genre and made a minor splash in his local community. Years later he emerged as an independent author with the First Light Chronicles science fiction series of novellas. With readers turning into fans, and a growing following he continues to write science fiction with the Spinward Fringe series. Randolph Lalonde currently writes full time from his home in northern Ontario, Canada.

Born in 1974, Randolph Lalonde has worked in customer service, sales, played drums for several heavy metal bands you've never heard of, dealt blackjack in a traveling casino, and serviced countless computers. He's also owned businesses in the design, printing, collectible and custom computer fields.

He completed writing his first novel in the fantasy adventure genre at the age of fifteen and has been writing ever since.

He self published his first novel;
Fate Cycle: Sins of the Past in 2004 and after taking a break has begun to release his work again starting with the First Light Chronicles series.

Randolph Lalonde has sold thousands of eBooks to date, enough to keep writing full time. He is deeply grateful for his following of readers and strives to improve his skills to better entertain them. The Spinward Fringe Space Opera series has proven to be his most popular.

He currently resides in Sudbury Ontario with his roommate, a tattoo artist.
