After a disappointing cut on his last album, (Jukejoint), it is refreshing for Everette Harp to make an artistic and decidely spiritual comeback with "First Love's" release. The growth is evident and the apology to the Almighty seeks to ennoble his humaness as an artist.

I've been a fan of Everette Harp from the beginning. In a time where it is hard to tell one smooth jazz sax player from another...when every one wants to be radio ready...something was lost. Everette Harp has found itwith First Love...smooth grooves with tasty solos and no throw aways...what smooth jazz should be. Delicious from beginning to end...

When I first heard Everette back in the mid 90s, I thought he had something to say musically but it wasn't quite all together. Fortunately he didn't give up. His CDs, "All For You" and "In the Moment" are awesome. When I heard "First Love" I thought to myself "Everette is giving us a taste of several different flavors" from some straight ahead, to a couple of tracks with a nod to the Crusaders, smooth jazz of course and a lovely ballad. I like what Everette is doing and I especially like the fact he's comfortable on alto and tenor but I think he sounds best on tenor. I highly recommend this CD.
