Bill Staines is a classic folk artist that rarely sings a dud, so a "best of" cd is difficult to compile because it requires leaving out so many good songs. Consequently, the 'best of' release "The First Million Miles" has now been supplemented by this new release, "The First Million Miles, Volume 2" which picks up many of the tracks left off of the first volume. You may expect these to be the less essential Staines songs; however, this cd is actually better than the first compliation. If you are only going to own one Bill Staines cd or want a sampler of his music, this cd is the place to start.

Bill Staines' tunes run deep to the core of your soul through his poetic lyrics and his smooth comforting music. You will have hours and hours of enjoyement listening to Staines. Try to catch one of his performances on the road. He will dazzle you with charm and warm you with song.

Bill Staines is one heckuva song writer and singer. His cassettes were de rigeur on our western road trips in the '70's and '80's. He has continued a remarkable career. Tom Paxton has long been my gold standard of song writing quality and versatility, but I am now rethinking. And, this is a Staines winner.

I am never disappointed with the songs on Bill Staines albums. The words are understandable, the music rhythmic and tunes lovely. I hope to collect all of his Cd's.
