An invaluable collection, August 3, 2009
This review is from: First Edition Music: World Premier Collection (Audio CD)
This is a great collection of 20th century classical music, and a great place to start for people interested in lesser known composers. Although this is all modern music, there is quite a bit of variety in this collection: Hymn tand Fuguing tune is folksy americana, Danses Africaines sounds a little like the I Love Lucy theme at times, Gazebo Dances is tonal and accessable while being full of rhythmic vitality, while Echoes of Time and the River sounds other-wordly.
All these recordings are analog, some even from the '50s, but I think that the sound is still very good; even though you can tell these recordings are old, it never distracts from the music.
I definately recommend this CD, and at such a low price, you don't have much to lose.
