I can't say enough good things about this bird bath, and my whole experience with it.
First of all, this item shipped extremely fast, despite the fact that I didn't pay for expedited shipping. I ordered it one Saturday afternoon, and received it Tuesday morning. It's made in the USA. Nuff said. While I agree with the first commenter, just read carefully what they said about cleaning your bird bath. A lot of people might read those comments, see the word dishwasher, and not pay full attention. The commenter said they put the bath in the dishwasher on "quick rinse". That's important, because these days most dishwashers have a dry cycle. If you run your bath through a dishwasher dry cycle, it will most likely melt. So do like the first poster said, run it through a quick rinse and then dry by hand. I had a pedestal style copper plate bird bath. That thing didn't even last a season. What a piece of junk. This bath is much sturdier even though it's made of plastic and should provide much more enjoyment. I highly recommend it.

A Much Overlooked Necessity...,
By
This review is from: First Nature 3004 Globe Style Bird Bath and Waterer (Lawn & Patio)
As an avid bird feeding enthusiast, I have learned that providing a clean fresh water supply to your backyard birds is as essential as offering them food. Unfortunately it is far too often an overlooked one. Most people that have gone to the birds so to speak get around to setting up a bird bath or two eventually. Figuring that birds being not so fussy as us will settle for whatever water supply there is regardless of its cleanliness. And in a pinch where there is nothing else around, they will most certainly do that. But as anyone that owns a bird bath or two comes to know, they get extremely dirty and slimy quite easily, and very often keeping it clean evolves into one of those chores we tend to neglect. This first nature waterer not only provides a fresher more easily cleaned alternative to bird baths, but its design tends to deter birds from favoring it as a bird bath to begin with.
Just like us, birds like to immerse themselves in a bath whenever possible, and the four little basins on this waterer are a little small for most birds to manage a decent wash. The results of my experience with owning two of these waterer's are that very few birds end up using it as a bath, and far more use it for drinking. Which in my opinion is a good thing. Its a bird bathing that messes up bird baths something awful, not the drinking. Trust me when I tell you that birds in general have a much easier time finding bathing water than locating or taking advantage of the clean drinking variety. Both of my waterer's have been in active use through summer and winter for two years now and still appear as new. (I only fill them half full in winter to allow for expansion. What is left still freezes at times, but usually enough thaws in the sun to provide some fresh supply. They have both survived two New England winters intact). These waterer's also provide a safe place for your birds to get refreshed up high and out of the reach of any cats or other predators. The bottom unscrews like a big cap and its easy to get at all the waterer's innards to clean. A couple of tips on this unit should you decide to purchase it. Its much easier to fill the bottle with water and then carry the bottom piece and bottle upside down separately to your destination, and then screwing on the bottom before turning it right side up. (Or, bring a big watering bottle to the unit and do it all there). If you put it together up front and then take your walk the sloshing will force the unit to overfill and you will lose a good portion of it on the way. Also, screw in the bottom piece just tight enough that it makes contact. Over tighten just a little and you will be using all kinds of naughty words the next time you need to get it apart. Its like it gets welded on. These waterer's are almost impossible to find in stores, rare even online, and most importently provide the easiest cleanest way to provide your backyard birds with fresh water. They are very reasonably priced here on Amazon and I highly recommend them...

This bird bath and waterer is easy to use and can prevent the bigger birds from sloshing all the water out and depriving the smaller birds. Unfortunately, after several months in our Phoenix sun, the plastic water container developed several cracks big enough to allow air to leak in and let the water out fairly rapidly. Happily, Daisy Outdoor Products offered to replace the container at no cost. I had e-mailed them about the cracks but had not requested a replacement. Instead, I had asked if there was a glass container that I could buy which would replace the plastic one. They said they did not have a glass one but would replace the container free of charge which they did. Great customer relations!

Someone wrote that they found this 10 dollars cheaper but there are 2 sizes on this web site. One weighs 1.7 pounds for shipping and the other weighs 3 pounds so I guess the capacity is different. The larger one holds 100 ozs and the smaller one doesn't list capacity. Hmmm

durable & lightweight,

I've had this for a year and it's great. It's durable and lightweight. Has not cracked with the sun or snow of Colorado. Wasn't sure about it initially because the birds would not drink out of it. Had to move the bird waterer a few places (on the ground, hanging, etc) until the birds got used to it. Now they love it!

Because I am the "kitchen staff" of a variety of birds and small critters on my property, I found that one single type of container can't fit every need.* The Nature's Niche hangs in a tree near the finch feeders. They seem to love it and use it for bathing as well as drinking. BUT that means that the cups need to be cleaned more often than the container needs to be filled. I have found that an old turkey baster helps remove the debris while keeping me relatively dry.
*I also have a traditional pedestal bath for the larger birds and a ground pan that is shared by squirrels, chipmonks and (I assume) whatever night critters wander through. Especially in dry New Mexico, I find that there is less destruction of hard-to-get-to containers if I provide a reachable token treat.

Leaks and base kept falling off,
By
This review is from: First Nature 3004 Globe Style Bird Bath and Waterer (Lawn & Patio)
The first year of using this it worked just fine. It had a minor leak that would result in me refilling it every couple of days, that didn't bother me but that just made sure I had kept it full of clean fresh water.
This spring, I got it out again (was kept in warm basement) and the leak was worse. All the water would drain out within a few hours. In addition, the base no longer screwed in very well. Almost as though as the threads were stripped -- they looked fine. If I filled the water full it wouldn't stay on strong enough to hold the base on. I would hang the unit up and A few minutes later the base would fall off (dumping all the water) and I'd have to start over again.

Outstanding alternative to birdbaths,

Living in an apartment with a 3rd floor balcony makes having a birdbath less than ideal. But I wanted a bird watering station which would be easy to clean and fill and which would be regularly visited by the birds which come to my feeders. I saw this bird watering station listed and decided to give it a try. It has proven to be a great decision. I have mine hanging from an eyebolt, though it's designed to fit onto a 4"x4" post, too. It's easy to take down and clean... holds enough water to last for days if necessary, and the birds LOVE it! I mostly have warblers, house finches and cardinals and they all are frequent visitors to the watering station. I give it highest marks possible. Plus it's got a lifetime guarantee from the maker (Arkansas). If/when I get another one, I may choose the new model which has a "roof" over the water cooler as that might help shade it from the hot summer sun. Either way, you can't go wrong with this well-designed product.
