5.0 out of 5 stars really attracts
I used First Nature Hummingbird Nectar liquid sugar concentrate last year and had 3 or 4 birds at each feeder. This year I couldn't find it at my normal supply store, so I used a different brand of powdered nectar. The birds would come to the feeders, take one sip and fly away. When I found First Nature on Amazon I was thrilled. I ordered several bottles and as soon...

1.0 out of 5 stars Convenient but not good for hummingbirds!!
This product might be convenient, but I recommend NOT using it. It contains red dye and a preservative, both of which may be damaging to hummingbirds. You do not need red food coloring in nectar in order to attract hummingbirds. Most hummingbird feeders have plenty of red on them to attract the birds. 1.0 out of 5 stars Convenient but not good for hummingbirds!!, January 15, 2008
This review is from: First Nature 3050 Red Hummingbird Nectar, 16-ounce Concentrate (Lawn & Patio)
This product might be convenient, but I recommend NOT using it. It contains red dye and a preservative, both of which may be damaging to hummingbirds. You do not need red food coloring in nectar in order to attract hummingbirds. Most hummingbird feeders have plenty of red on them to attract the birds. A simple mixture of 4 parts water to 1 part granulated sugar is all that is needed for hummingbird nectar. Never use honey or sugar substitutes. It's simple to make nectar and keep refrigerated and certainly safe for the birds. We prefer safeguarding the health of these little birds rather than the supposed convenience of this product.

Within days I was back to 3 or 4 birds at each feeder. It is easy to mix and the concentrate does not need to be stored in the refrigerator.

5.0 out of 5 stars HAPPY HUMMINGBIRDS!!!, August 23, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: First Nature 3050 Red Hummingbird Nectar, 16-ounce Concentrate (Lawn & Patio)
I have tried several brands of hummingbird food from powders to premix solutions. The birds just taste and fly away and never dine here again. With this concentrate, they return several times a day everyday. This is the only type of food I use anymore. It is the best. Easy to mix, bottle lasts a long time. Hard to find in the stores so I get it here on Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hummingbirds Everywhere, August 7, 2005
This review is from: First Nature 3050 Red Hummingbird Nectar, 16-ounce Concentrate (Lawn & Patio)
The brand we used in the past was used at the rate of a gallon a week. We are now going through 3 gallons a week of nectar. We are outside day and night watching the hummers. We have three new varities this year. What joy the hummers bring us. Better than any TV or video game!

I'm amazed at how quickly the hummingbirds are going through this nectar! It's easy to use -- fill the feeder 1/4 of the way full with the nectar and the rest of the way with water, and the price is reasonable.

5.0 out of 5 stars My hummingbirds fight over this stuff, August 25, 2006

I've used this for three seasons now and, especially late in the summer, I have hummers at the feeder constantly. My only problem is it's difficult to find, but its worth the hunt. P.S. Don't use tap water. Mix it with spring water from your local grocery. In the evenings I usually have four or five hummers fighting for space at the feeder. Better than any hummingbird food I've tried.

This review is from: First Nature 3050 Red Hummingbird Nectar, 16-ounce Concentrate (Lawn & Patio)
After searching locally and on the internet for this stuff I finally found a supply at ACE Hardware. They had the large size for $7.98. The only place on the internet at a reasonable price is Amazon. Some places wanted more for shipping than the nectar itself. The minute I hung this up the hummingbirds were enjoying it. Nice to know I can get it at Amazon if ACE runs out.

This nectar is incredible attracting hummingbirds. They won't touch anything else.

We live south of Denver in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies and have never seen so many hummingbirds in one place. Must be going through two gallons a week of more in nectar. At times there are a dozen "hummers" (Broad-tailed and Calliope) competing for spots at the three feeders.

Its a joy to watch their flights.

Don't hesitate to buy this product if your enjoy these birds.

If you go to the First Nature website, you'll see that they also have this product available in clear liquid form. No need to worry that the hummers may be hurt by the dye.
