We received quick shipping of our two canisters. They are the newer model, unlike the picture, which is the original canister like we had. The canister fits just like the old one. It does not have the cover on the bottom like the old one, only a little white piece to cover the water outlet only. We will put it to the test this summer, but expect it two work as well as the old one.

Much better then the original cartridge I bought a few years ago. Has different threads to match smaller and larger water bottles.

I purchase a replacement filter to take with me for a wilderness camping using canoe. We were out for four days and not one of us came down with the runs. We each took turn pumping the filter as it became hard to pump after a while. This is one of the few filter that filters everything including virus.

Used this replacement filter for 10 days in the Alaskan backcountry. Used it 4/5 times a day in some otherwise pretty nasty, relatively stagnant water. The purified water had a neutral taste and no one became ill. Pretty much all you can ask for. Recommended.

I have used my purifier for years. From extreme conditions to clean lakes. It pumps easy and gives me the satisfaction my water is free from what might get me. The filter cover is a new design and I can't tell if I like it, but it functioned well. I would recommend this purifier any day.

We took this filter on a 12-day trek through the mountains and desert of New Mexico. Fining drinkable water was a huge issue. However, we were able to purify even the worst of water with this filter with no worries of picking up any sort of nasty viruses or bacteria. Our water came from streams that had cattle, buffalo, elk and other wildlife all around, but the First Need XL had it appearing and tasting as pure as bottled water.
