More About the Author

Peter Flannery lives in a small village in the Scottish Borders with his wife and two young boys. After leaving school he studied art and design before leaving college to work in forestry. However, during an accident at work he broke his neck and, after a month on traction and a year's convalescenece, he moved into horticulture before switching again to set himself up as a sculptor working for the toy industry.

A design studio in Edinburgh provided the opportunity to move from sculpting to writing and he became the lead writer for Target Games UK Ltd. He is now an independent writer working on a range of titles for both adults and children. FIRST AND ONLY is his first published novel.

Following the success of the novel, First and Only is now making a bid for the big screen.

The protagonist is a man with godlike psychic powers. He can affect submarines thousands of miles away, but he cannot affect a gag in his mouth. He can telepathically communicate with members of an audience he has never seen before, but he cannot communicate with his loyal bodyguard. He can predict stock market numbers 5 weeks in advance, but he cannot warn his bodyguard that the bad guy is going to come thru the back door in 5 minutes. He can telekinetically bend a metal rod in front of James Randi, but he cannot do anything with the distributor or carburetor in the bad guy's vehicle, or with the bad guy's heart valves, or brain cells during his being kidnapped.
The general quality of the writing was entirely acceptable, but unless you are like the Red Queen, and you can believe several impossible things before breakfast, you will find the plot hard to take.

I really wasn't expecting much, since I had never read this author. Actually, this was his first published book!

Within the first few pages, I was pretty much spellbound! The storyline is great! I had an immediate connection with the main character (who is Psychic) and could not put the book down! It's an "easy read" but does not lack substance! It will keep you on your toes and won't disappoint.
I guess you can tell by all of my !!!!!!s that I LOVED it!!

First and Only is a well written book with a great story line. It is wonderfully mixed with suspense and action; definitely keeping the reader on her/his toes! I know for me personally, I could not put the book down. I have recommended it to as many friends as I know, and I will continue to do so. This novel is a great book if you like to read suspense, and enjoy a book that you cannot predict.

I did not know this was the author's first book until the very end of the book. The one piece of advice to the author: do not offer candy to readers who might negatively review your book....even with tongue in cheek, it's not a good move. Now, onto the review.

I bought this book with dubious expectations. The description sounded interesting enough for a small investment to my kindle account. I have been hard pressed to find a non formulaic book lately that maintains my interest.

This book was a great and delightful surprise. It was something a bit new, a novel that made you think and kept you reading page after page. I loved the concept.

For a first time effort, I would give it a big American thumbs up.

I don't want to give away much about the plot because it is quite different. My hats off to an author with many careers and many handicaps along the way. I flew through this book in two days and that was a wonderful escape from all the real life crap that's going on around the world.

Thank you to a new author who gave us something a bit different to think about.

I had never before read 'Peter Flannerry'. After I read reviews of this book on Amazon,I decided to buy it and give it a try.And what a surprise it was! Though I new from reviews that it must be good,it was much better than I had expected. It was more like a shock.I definitely do recommend it to everybody but perhaps few may not like it as much as I liked it,may be due to type of subject.

This book grabbed my interest and kept it! It had a few slow spots but was a very enjoyable read. If you like this genre you will enjoy the book. I do hope the author chooses to make another book about the characters.
