5.0 out of 5 stars A MURDER MYSTERY THAT CELEBRATES THE SPECIAL BOND BETWEEN CATS & THEIR HUMANS, November 17, 2009

This review is from: First Person Cat (Hardcover)
"First Person Cat" is a great book for cat lovers and anyone who loves a good mystery. I love how author Jacque Heebner created Tiffany, the Tortoise Shell Persian cat, a feline so sweet, shrewd, and loyal to her human "mom" that I was unable to put the book down until I finished the last page. "First Person Cat" has it all; mystery, intrigue, beautiful people, traitors, and heroes. If you ever talk to your cat, this is the book for you. It's a good book for an evening at home. I love murder mysteries and this book has all the elements, including a cat determined to solve the mystery of who killed her owner. The book is filled with details that bring "First Person Cat" to life and I recommend it to anyone who loves cats or just a great book.

What could be more ingenuous than a muder mystery written by and solved by a pampered Beverly Hills kitty? Tiffany, a gorgeous tortoise shell Persian, has nine lives and a thousand senses. Don't try to put anything over on her! She's sweet, loving, opinionated and loves the good life to which her human mommy has accustomed her. When her mommy is murdered, it's Tiffany who knows the truth and points out the clues. The fascinating cat world is a big part of this adorable book that is impossible to put down. It will make you both smile and laugh. A joy for cat lovers and mystery lovers of all ages.

4.0 out of 5 stars Murder Mystery Written by a Cat- A Beverly Hills Persian that Wears Diamond Necklaces from Rodeo Drive, November 15, 2009

This review is from: First Person Cat (Hardcover)
A Murder Mystery Written by a Cat? A Beverly Hills tortoise shell Persian that wears diamond necklaces from Rodeo Drive and solves the murder of her rock star Owner? I was intrigued. I manged to receive an advanced reader copy of this hard cover book from the publisher. I love murder mysteries and this did not disappoint. Although I am not a cat owner, I found myself totally immersed in the life of this little bitch of a feline and her point of view on the humans around her. It is a quick read- just over 200 pages. I polished it off in one night. I enjoy books from the animal's point of view. If you liked Watership Down, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, and Animal Farm, you will like First Person Cat. I noticed the publisher included endorsements, right in the book, by world renowned celebrity cat and pet owners like Tippi Hedren, Lou Ferrigno and Roger Williams. The author's research was evident in it's accuracy-the Beverly Hills neighborhoods, the stars, the parties, the action. Although the murder is described, I have no problem allowing my kids to read it. It is minor friendly.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY CLEVER CAT SOLVES MURDER MYSTERY, March 18, 2011

This review is from: First Person Cat (Hardcover)
In this very unique whodunnit, we get into the mind of Tiffany, a pampered Persian cat, as she helps humans solve the murder of her "mom", Lydia, a successful singer who dies under strange circumstances in her Beverly Hills mansion. We see that Tiffany, from whose POV the story is told, has been raised in luxury after being rescued from a shelter, and knows all about fashion and the finer things, thanks to her owner; Tiffany's observations lends unusual style and color to the story. Thankfully, after her mom's murder, a handsome detective stays with the case, refusing to write it off as an accident as Lydia's well connected husband (and chief suspect) would like. Tiffany helps out the handsome detective as best she can with looks, purrs, meows and even leading him to clues. Tiffany can't talk, of course, but she is able to communicate enough to help unravel the tale. Very well done, and not just for cat lovers. Although cat lovers who love a mystery will certainly love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE AMAZING CAT WHO WITTINGLY REVEALS THE MURDER OF HER MISTRESS, May 28, 2010
This review is from: First Person Cat (Hardcover)
I've had cats as pets at various times throughout my life and thoroughly enjoyed reading this book about Tiffany, a Persian cat. Jacqueline Heebner beautifully manages to create this delightful story in a brilliant way that makes it unique and interesting. Tiffany the cat tells the entire story! The story takes place in a glamorous multi-million dollar home in Beverly Hills, where pets are pampered and live a life of indulgence and luxury. Tiffany is no exception with her diamond necklace and caviar tastes. There have been many murder mysteries written but not any that I'm aware of that is told by a cat who is the only "eye witness" to the murder. I'm a sucker for a good fantasy novel. "First Person Cat" is structured so that it is extremely believable. From the very moment I began reading the story, it held my interest and I didn't want to put it down because I wanted to see what was going to happen next. After reading just the first page you know you are in for an interesting read. Suspense builds as the detective tries to decide if the death of the cat's Mistress was accidental or murder. The plot thickens and chaos happens to stir the emotions of the reader all the way to the end of the story where Tiffany uses great wisdom in not only making the truth known - but even prevents another murder! I highly recommend this book. It's a story with mystery and excitement. It's humor and heart makes it very appealing for everyone. It is well written and captivating; the characters are interesting; and the cat is charming and very lovable. By the way, there's another thing about this story also. I love animals and found this book - "First Person Cat" - fascinating as it describes things as seen from the cat's eye-level-view, whether the cat was looking upward while strolling along on the floor or looking down while sitting on top of a high shelf or piece of furniture. I found that an amusing concept and quite entertaining. I heartily applaude Jacqueline Heebner for an excellent job done. If she makes a sequel I would gladly buy it and recommend it also. This is a beautifully packaged book that makes it lovely to give as a gift or to leave on your coffee table.
