Does anyone else whos reviewed this actually own this?, January 24, 2002

This review is from: First Round Knockout (Audio CD)
I think i am the first one to review this cd that actually owns it. This album does in fact have arguably the best and most notorious rap song on it, Deep Cover, however other then that there are 2 other good songs. The rest are more techno then hip hop. One of the other songs on this cd that is great is Bridgette by the DOC. This is the only album you can find it on too. And the third track that is worth listening to is Nickel Slick Nigga by Kokane. I dont know why that song is on the Dr Dre cd, considering Dre doesnt produce it or spit 1 verse on it however im glad it is because without it, this would probably be a 3 star album, just because of Deep Cover and Bridgette.

Dr. Dre before "The Chronic", December 2, 2011
This review is from: First Round Knockout (Audio CD)
This is Dr. Dre's collection of old and new hits before the now infamous "The Chronic" album. Deep Cover a.k.a. "187 on an undercover cop" introduces the world to Snoop Dogg. Bridgette is the only leftover song from The D.O.C.'s album, and probably the most memorable one at that. Turn Off The Lights by the World Class Wreckin' Cru, old school classic! Those are the only notable songs that stick out for me at this moment, a must have for any true old school/rap/hip-hop fan.

Nothing special, just a Dre collection., September 17, 2002
This review is from: First Round Knockout (Audio CD)
This album is nothing special, it just has a couple highlights and that's about it. The only reason to buy this album is for a couple tracks all true gangsta rap fans should have. The classic collaboration "Deep Cover" with Snoop was their first collab together and is an instant classic. It doesn't get much better than that one. Also, "Bridgette" by The D.O.C. is a really nice story track about a girl that was left off of No One Can Do It Better because of the subject matter. It's a nice, bouncy track though. "Nickel Slick" by Kokane features one of his first appearances back in the days when Kokane was truly an up and comer in the G-Funk world. This track is much better than his newer appearances with Snoop. "Funky Flute" features a jazz flutist on Ruthless and the track is decent, finally including Dre a little bit. As for the rest of the album, we're left with a Michel'le track and a bunch of World Class Wreckin' Crew material that was either previously released or just not worth hearing. Why this album was released is still beyond me. But I wouldn't recommend it, unless you really want to own three or four really nice tracks along with a bunch of junk.
