Full of Wonder,
By
This review is from: First Snow in the Woods: A Photographic Fantasy (Hardcover)
This beautiful story, illustrated with glorious and vibrant photographs, is full of wonder for both children and adults. Here is the story of the creatures of the forest preparing for the first snow. In their rituals of preparation for the winter to come, we are given gentle, reflective prose and rich, fascinating photographs: an owl silhouetted againt the mysterious northern lights, dragonflies, hummingbirds, woodchucks, and the most graceful deer. Through this book, children can learn the wonder of the animals of the woods, and also of the changing of the seasons; adult can find lovely and poignant photographic images that bring the magic of the forest alive.

A nature lover's dream of a child's book,

This review is from: First Snow in the Woods: A Photographic Fantasy (Hardcover)
The story is simple; it's change of season time. The real photographs are beautiful to behold. These make the books enjoyable both to reader and listener. If you are a nature lover and hope to pass that trait on, this is an easy book to do just that. Told from the viewpoint of the deer and fawn, many animals are included. Note it is not a "board book" to turn loose with younger toddlers. Your eyes and reading will show them the beauty of nature in quite a few pages and words. When trustworthy with real pages, a child can learn to tell the story by looking at the pictures.
It does not fall into the category of "easy reader books" for those just learning to read. It is a lovely book to be shared.
