5.0 out of 5 stars Little Brother Montgomery at His Peak, May 10, 2007
This review is from: First Time I Met the Blues (Audio CD)
I have most of this material on vinyl. The tunes on this cd show all sides of Little Brother Montgomery. He could play ragtime, pop tunes, and straight ahead barrelhouse all with a distinctive New Orleans flavor. He was came up in an era when a piano player was expected to know everything people wanted to hear or dance to. Comparable artists: Blind John Davis, Roosevelt Sykes, Cow Cow Davenport.

Montgomery was an excellent pianist and a strong singer. If you're interested in urban blues piano from the pre-WWII era you won't be disappointed in this cd.
