5.0 out of 5 stars We love these!
My 15 month old received these in her Easter basket and they're great! They are very sturdy- about like the page from a touch and feel board book (2-ply so the fabric can be sandwiched between). The touch and feel patches on some of the cards are somewhat small (you only get the nose on the puppy), but it really doesn't detract overall. There are 4 animals in each of 4...

After purchasing these and using them I have been compelled to author my 1st Amazon review! I was excited to find these flashcards as I have been looking for something like this for awhile and local stores have not been helpful (could only find touch and feel books). This review is from: My First Touch & Feel Picture Cards: Animals (MY 1ST T&F PICTURE CARDS) (Cards)
There are 4 animals in each of 4 categories: ocean, zoo, pets, & farm. Each category has a different color border which is good for sorting. This may seem irrelevant, but the box is very sturdy. It matters to us because my daughter loves putting the cards into the box and taking them out over and over. It's made of a heavy laminated cardboard which can sit alone on its bottom and the lid flips over the top and has a velcro closure.

My daughter loves these cards. She is 14 months and can recognize the different animals and make the animal noises when I show her the cards. She likes to play with them, taking them out of the box, putting them back in, and stacking them. They come with suggestions for games to play with them as the child grows older. They are sturdy, and I expect that we'll be using them for a long time.

My son has learning delays and loves the "Animals" collection. He has started to learn his animals and loves to feel parts of the animals on the cards. "First Words" is just as amazing. "Things that Go" is not as tactile. We have them all and find them to be the best card collection out there.

After purchasing these and using them I have been compelled to author my 1st Amazon review! I was excited to find these flashcards as I have been looking for something like this for awhile and local stores have not been helpful (could only find touch and feel books). With all the great reviews on Amazon and the price with the 4 for 3 deal I was sold. When I received this set along with the first words, numbers/counting & colors/shapes I couldn't wait to open them up and thought that the storage box that they came in were a nice touch - sturdy with velcro closure...but that's where the excitement ended for me. The tactile parts of the cards that are supposed to provide texture are somewhat pathetic (i.e. the tactile nose of the "dog" flashcard is almost impossible to feel it's so darn small and the thickness of the top layer of the card is mostly what you'll feel - little fingers get lost in the mass of the card before they find and feel the nose, the "reflective" type sticker material for some of the other cards are lame IMO which are not quite "tactile" which go along with some of the "cut out" parts of some of the cards to provide a "touch and feel" affect - seems like someone got lazy and lost their imagination while designing these cards). I have tried to really like them over the past week or so but they are just blah. Not worth the trouble to return and well they will serve as just "regular" flashcards in this household to expand and explore vocabulary.

Prior to making this purchase I bought a box of touch and feel cards from a learning/educational specialty store and flinched at the price tag of $50 for a box of 50 flashcards BUT as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" b/c these cards are WELL made for little fingers that explore them (flashcard stock is much thicker and sturdier) AND the touch and feel tactile parts of the card are TRULY touchy/feely (was even worth the 20 mile drive LOL). My little one's attention span with these cards will last pretty long, with the DK My First Touch & Feel set we're done after the 1st few. It's too bad that the expensive set has a large number of "advanced" words which my little one won't get to enjoy until a bit later so we'll have to make due with the not so great DK MFT&F set since the level of vocabulary in the DK set is more suitable for my baby at present.

Ok so in addition to what the other reviewers have posted. I wanted to emphasize that these cards also have chinese, german french and spanish translations of the words. Somehow the company doesnt indicate this anywhere on the box!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great flash cards for babies, November 17, 2009

First I purchased the baby Einstein flash cards but I notice that the cards were too busy and my son couldn't focus on one object. He ended up just chewing on the cards. Then I purchased DK Publishing brand which are more simple. Now my baby focuses on the object and points to it with his finger, then chews on the cards.

Over all this is a great product for kids ages 5 months and up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to find, January 9, 2007
This review is from: My First Touch & Feel Picture Cards: Animals (MY 1ST T&F PICTURE CARDS) (Cards)
I found these cards to be indispensible. There arent many cards like these that have big pictures on a hard paper strong enough to endure a baby's rough play. The pictures are clear, big and interesting. They come with typical pictures that are always part of a young vocabulary. They are good for older kids as well as they have many thinking and imaginative questions for parents on the back. I found them to be more helpful with my one year old, with language aquisition.

Santa left a set of these flashcards in my little one's Christmas Stocking and we LOVE them!

These are very well-made and sturdy, printed on strong and thick stock. Each flashcard has a bright picture, the name of the object, and a "touch and feel" patch that encourages my little one to explore and spend time with each individual card. This is fantastic for helping him with attention and concentration.

There are several different themes available in this series of flashcards-- this box, Animals, is our favorite and contains farm, jungle, and domestic animals that are easily recognizable and beautifully captured.

As a mom, my favorite part of these flashcards is the box. That may sound strange, but we have enough kiddo stuff strewn across the house! Having a super strong, cardboard box to contain all the flashcards and close shut with child-friendly velco is a thoughtful touch. The box is toddler-perfect, sized for little hands, and helps us teach about "clean up and put away."

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Flashcards!, June 14, 2010

This review is from: My First Touch & Feel Picture Cards: Animals (MY 1ST T&F PICTURE CARDS) (Cards)
These cards are made of a very nice heavy weight cardboard. They are definitely some of the strongest/stiffest flashcards I've come across. The touch and feel aspect of these is great and really help to make these cards more interactive. I really like the questions on the back of each flashcard. None of the questions are exactly amazing, "never would have thought of that" type questions, but being a mom of a toddler has certainly scrambled my brain and these guides really help. It also lists the name of each animal in 4 different foreign languages on the back. Cool. My son is not so interested in these yet, but I can tell that they will grow with him. Fabulous cards and definitely worth the price. I'm very happy with this product.

Love these. Started doing them before bed with my son when he was 6 months old. He loves them and now he knows them in English & French. Phonetic on back of cards!
