1.0 out of 5 stars Price Concern!
Are these cards REALLY $214.00-$448.00????? Whoever is posting the prices on these things MIGHT want to reconsider... I have been racking my brains over these prices. Someone please fix them all. These are obviously a mistake. They only sell for $9.99 EVERYWHERE else. Might then be $2.14-$4.48 ??? I think so... Please correct, so that I may buy!!! Thank you!!!

I got these for my son when he was 18-months and he LOVES these! He has already memorized both the First Words and almost all of the Shapes & Colors cards.

I went out and bought ALL FOUR packs. They are all great!

Each card includes a big color photograph of the item plus some sort of tactile addition - such as hair on the cat, bumpy tires on the tractor, sticky areas on the jelly. Plus, on the back of each card there are "talking points" and suggestions for questions to ask and things to do. It also has five different translations for the object, so you can help your little one learn other languages.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the cards are super strong and will resist bending and folding if your baby plays with them. My baby has at least once dumped them on the floor and danced on them - and they as good as new!

They are now part of our nightly routine. We "do cards" right before we read a book or two each night.

I would say that First Words are good for 12 mo+, and Shapes & Colors is good for 18+ (there are some more difficult cards, such as a picture of a glittery purse shaped like a heart - my son still has no idea what that is!). Animals is a little more advanced (just because it includes some more obscure animals) and Counting is the most advanced (but it is still awesome and teaches great concepts - for example, there is a picture of a jar of marbles and another card with an empty jar, so the baby can compare "many marbles" versus "no marbles").

Buy these! And, I hope the company makes even more of them (would love to see more themed word cards, such as "food," "bathtime," "bedtime," "outdoors," etc.) I will buy them all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for little hands, April 27, 2007
This review is from: My First Touch & Feel Picture Cards: First Words (MY 1ST T&F PICTURE CARDS) (Cards)
My 15 month old daughter loves these cards. We have the complete set of first words, animals, numbers, colors, etc. She pulls them out daily and looks at them. She brings them to me so that I can teach her what the picture is telling her. They are sturdy under toddler feet, and in toddler hands. A wonderful product from the great publisher of DK. I recommend them over all other cards for this age group (and believe me I looked for an alternative).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for learning and fun, December 11, 2006

My daughter loves these cards. She is 14 months and can recognize the different items when I show her the cards. She especially is fascinated by the "jelly" card, as it is sticky to touch. She likes to play with them, taking them out of the box, putting them back in, and stacking them. They come with suggestions for games to play with them as the child grows older. They are sturdy, and I expect that we'll be using them for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun durable cards, December 13, 2007

This review is from: My First Touch & Feel Picture Cards: First Words (MY 1ST T&F PICTURE CARDS) (Cards)
My daughter loves these cards. The jelly card is no longer sticky, but she still likes to dump out all the cards and also tries to put them back in the box.

The box is very sturdy and has a velcro dot closure. The cards a fairly sturdy as well. Some of the touch and feel parts aren't really feely as they are only shiny foil "painted" on, so it's more of a visual kind of thing.

Since getting these cards and the other three sets, my daughter has quickly learned all the words. It is quite amazing. She also likes to open all the boxes and dump the cards out in a big pile. Then she stands on the pile and slips around on them. She sometimes lies down and makes "flash card angel" which just makes a huge mess. The worst part is me having to separate out the cards.

Some cards are similar to others in the other boxes. We have two tractors, two trains, two buses, two dogs, two cats, but each one is a slightly different view.

I think these cards helped a lot. I ask her to get a specific card and she looks for it and gives it to me. I also show her cards and she tells me what is on the card. She also will run off and get her toy that is the same as the card. For instance, the dog card, she goes to get her stuffed dog which looks completely different from the one on the card, but she knows that they are both dogs. She'll point to the card, and then to the toy and repeat the word. Sometimes I end up with a big pile of her toys that match those on the cards.

Overall these cards are a good value. They are much more sturdy than other cards (Baby Einstein) that she has. She likes to feel the textures on the card too. The images are big and clear without distractions on the card itself.

My son loves these cards -- by 15 months he was able to pick up the appropriate cards when I asked for one. He may not be able to say the words yet, but he can certainly identify the objects. The touch and feel aspect of these cards is very appealing to my little guy.

My son received this in his Easter basket. These cards are great. The touch they put for each card is very different. The colors and pictures are very brilliant, and they are sturdy. They travel in a convenient box and are great for travel or a quiet activity. My son has been playing with them since he was 8 months old, and continues to enjoy them.

We bought these to give to our one-year old for Christmas. He absolutely loves them! They're durable, so will hold up over time, the pictures are colorful and he's really interested in touching all of the textures. Best thing is that they really grow with your child because as they get older you can play games with the cards, and the cards also have the german, spanish, french and chinese pronouciations of each word! Overall, these are very reasonably priced and I would highly recommend them for little ones, especially if they love books already.

My 11 month-old daughter loves these cards. She enjoys taking them out of the box, one-by-one and then looking at each one. She especially likes looking at the picture of the baby and the animals and touching all the differnt textures. My only complaint is sticky surface of the "jelly" card is now covered in dust and fuzz.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love these cards, January 22, 2007
This review is from: My First Touch & Feel Picture Cards: First Words (MY 1ST T&F PICTURE CARDS) (Cards)
These cards are so educational. My daughter got her first set for her 1st birthday and just loved them. She is now 20mths old and has the whole set/series. She still loves them and asks us to play with them with her all the time. They are great for road trips and even on long shopping trips. They are so worth the money....I would even buy if they were more xpensive they are so worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, hard to find product, January 9, 2007
This review is from: My First Touch & Feel Picture Cards: First Words (MY 1ST T&F PICTURE CARDS) (Cards)
I found these cards to be indispensible. There arent many cards like these that have big pictures on a hard paper strong enough to endure a baby's rough play. The pictures are clear, big and interesting. They come with typical pictures that are always part of a young vocabulary. They are good for older kids as well as they have many thinking and imaginative questions for parents on the back. I found them to be more helpful with my one year old, with language aquisition.
