5.0 out of 5 stars Great Everyday First Words Book
My 10 month old daughter really enjoys this book. The book seems to be well thought out. It includes a lot of good features that should make it appealing to most babies and not just my daughter. The pages of this book are thick enough young babies to turn, open and close. 2.0 out of 5 stars Why all the glowing reviews?
After reading all of the glowing reviews, I thought this book must be something special. It is a simple board book with just a few pictures and minimal touch-and-feel features. It is fine, but not noteworthy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Everyday First Words Book, May 9, 2009
This review is from: First Words (BABY TOUCH & FEEL) (Board book)
My 10 month old daughter really enjoys this book. The book seems to be well thought out. It includes a lot of good features that should make it appealing to most babies and not just my daughter. The pages of this book are thick enough young babies to turn, open and close. Some first words book have more than one picture on a page, however, this book only has one picture per page. This helps to grab a young baby's attention and makes it easier for them to understand. Each page has the name of the object/s and a suggestion as to what to say. These tend to be things that you might say to a baby throughout the day such as, "all gone" for bowl and spoon. It is good reinforcement for understanding phrases that a baby already hears in real, everyday situations. The book is also short enough to keep a young baby's attention. However, a caregiver could talk about the pictures more if they wanted to make it longer. Older children could read the words or perhaps read the book to a baby. Another good aspect of the book is that it includes pictures of things that a baby would most likely see each day such as a bowl and spoon, socks, shoes, cat, dog, ball.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good first books for toddlers, January 27, 2009

We purchased two of these touch and feel books for our 15 month old daughter. She loves the pictures and to feel the books. They are a great first book for older babies and young toddlers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice book, 'feel' items are not large, October 14, 2010

Cute book, simple words that I am sure she will enjoy as she get older. Bought mostly for the 'feel' aspect right now and was disappointed. Most of the 'feel' items are very small.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'll tell you why the glowing reviews..., January 15, 2010
This review is from: First Words (BABY TOUCH & FEEL) (Board book)
I can't speak for any other parent but my 7-month old son loves this book (and when he was 5 and 6 months too)! He gets very excited and holds it open and is able to turn the pages. He also loves that he is able to touch and feel the dog's "fur". His favorite is the ball on the cover and inside. It's a very simple book but he adores it so I am going to get all the Baby Touch and Feel books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tiny Touch Areas, January 27, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: First Words (BABY TOUCH & FEEL) (Board book)
I ordered this book for my 8month old daughter who loves touch & feel books. We were disappointed with the size, quality, & quantity of the touch texture areas. Not all of the pages have real textures - only glitter that feels the same as the rest of the page. Also, a number of the pages have such tiny touch areas, she can barely fit her baby fingers in to feel them. I'd say that we have better touch and feel books in our library, but she does still enjoy the books so overall it was a worthwhile purchase.

My 8-month-old loves two of the DK Touch and Feel books he received as Christmas presents, so I ordered him 4 more (including this one) this week. I thought getting the "new edition!" would be a good thing but I am very disappointed. There are not really very many items that are textured, and the textured areas are tiny--he barely notices them. The older editions we have are slightly larger books, seem to have larger "feely" areas and the "feely" parts are more fun. There were a lot in here that are not really textures, just different material (shiny or sparkly). I am actually going to take the loss on shipping these back because I was so disappointed and would rather get him books he will really get into.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Very Pleased, December 27, 2011

It does not have great textures that I thought it would have. Some of the textures take up a very small area of the page, and my 19 month son barely understood why I was asking him to touch it. Save your money. I preferGood Night: A Touch & Feel Bedtime Book which have better textures, and allow the children to remain interseted.
