Not what I expected,

I thought I had adequately done my research when I ordered this seat. It got rave reviews from both individuals and in safety testers. I was especially looking for one that had head support, and this one was described as having a deep head rest. However, I was disappointed when I finally used it. The first and only day I used it, my family had a long drive home from grandma's one night and the kids fell asleep. I turned around and found my son slumped over and falling out of the seat. He had his seat belt on and was originally upright, but the head rest and sides of the seat were not enough to support him. I kept trying to prop him back up, but there simply wasn't enough support in the seat. I immediately removed the seat and returned it. I've since ordered another seat by Sunshine Kids. It was the closest thing I could find to the Britax Parkway, which my older son has. Apparently, Britax stopped making that seat, so I tried to find something comparable w/o having to pay hundreds of dollars. The seat I bought by Sunshine is available on Amazon as well. The Sunshine seat has side panels that stick out farther (deeper) and a head rest which is more narrow and cradles the head, should the child fall asleep. It does cost more than this one, but it's worth it to me.

We ordered one first to see how it is. (The only drawback to these seats is that it's only available online). But based on reviews and customers who had compared the particular seats that we were considering AND this one, we thought we'll try it. It seemed good so now we have two. We've only had them for a month but we like them so far. It's light, comfortable for the kids(even when sleeping), and the adjustable headrest for taller chlidren is great. It has the fabric and cushioning even when you extend the headrest.

I bought this booster as well as the Combi Kobuk since we have two cars. I didn't see either of them in-person, but chose them based on reviews from Amazon, the Toddler Bargains book and a friend's recommendation. So... I bought the Compass because of its good reviews, but was not expecting much in terms of looks. I was pleasantly surprised. The website photo of the seat does it no justice. My son loves it too --- just little things like the movable arm rests and the retracting cup holders. I like the Kobuk too, but it is falls in the opposite camp i.e. great-looking website photo, but not as attractive in real life.

LOVE THIS BOOSTER - and I have tried a lot!,

Wow! This booster really had it all! I picked ours up locally at Target, which was more expensive than Amazon, but Amazon did not have them when we were looking. The folding dfeature caught my eye, as eveytime we fly, my car seats get completely messed up. Problem solved! Now the car seat is super comfortable, 2 cup holders, and is a great size! I can't say anything bad about it. Love it! Also the arms rests are really nice, and keep them in the seat, and not slouched to the side when they fall asleep in the car

This is a nice, but BIG booster seat,

I bought this for a trip and with the thought of saving on renting a booster seat and expected something similar in size to my other booster seat, but with the ability to fold. This thing is huge compared to my other booster seat. My son just meets the age/size guidelines and he still looks like he is being swallowed by it. I see there are other models from this manufacturer which apparently are smaller. They really should advertise this as being for bigger kids. I thought the deluxe just meant it would be more plush, but now when I look at the measurements the other one would have served me better. Even though my son technically meets the requirements, I don't know if I will feel safe with him riding in this.
On another note.. the color in the picture looks tan and black, but it is tan and navy blue. Just a note if you are trying to match your car. Another disappointment as my car is black and tan.

Great Seat,

I bought 2 - one for a 5yr old and one for a 3yr old. I chose this one b/c it folds for travel. We had a 9 hr flight to endure on our way to our new overseas home - and I DID not want to have to carry big clunky seats around big airports! Therefore I also bought the carrying bags for each seat (now there is an entirly different review - they are very thin and provide as much protection as a sheet with a zipper!) We put both seats into checked baggage, and I was so worried that they would be damaged. They made it beautifully! I was amazed - cause you know how luggage gets thrown around - and we did have one bag that was destroyed. So I can completly attest - they are VERY Durable!!!
The kids both love these seats, they seem very comfy and they love the cupholders. The arms lift up for easy entry and it is very easy to adjust the height for a taller kid. I am also very happy that the seat belt is very secure in the guide of this seat - no amout of kid wiggle is going to pull it out. It puts the belt in the perfect position for them. My only complaint is it is a little tough to get them to fold and unfold. Maybe they just arent broken in yet - but it takes a little muscle, brain power and patients right now. I have been through MANY car seats in my time - I was the pickiest about everything when they were babies! We were giving up 2 Britax Marathons to move into these. I was tired of having to pick up my large 5 yr old to put her in the Britax in the SUV - plus it was time she learned to latch and unlatch herself for drop off in the school line! This is the first booster that I have bought and I expected to go through a few before I found one I liked. I was wrong - we love these seats!!!

I bought two seats like this for my two kids (at the time ages were 3.5 and 5) and I love them. What's great is that the base for these is a bit smaller than typical booster seats, which has made them easier to strap into the 3rd row of my Honda Pilot, which does not accomodate regular booster seats nearly as well. These are very comfy and the covers remove easily to throw into the washer and dryer for cleaning. I also love that I can easily fold them in half and put them behind the back seats of my Pilot for storage when I don't need them. I think my only complaint would be I'd love for the cupholders to remove so I could easily clean them. Maybe they do...but I've not figured out how yet!

I would highly recommend this product to keeping your little one safe.
My grandson loves his booster seat. Easy to use, good quality material on the seat, folds very easy and portable. I purchased two of these seats, one for my car and one for my daughter's car.

Great booster seat. My son loves it. We plan on buying another one for our daughter who is very jealous after seeing this one. Easy to use. There is a lot of padding and when my son fell asleep in the car today his head did not flop forward, he seemed very comfortable. The shoulder strap fits great and it is in the right place with the guide so it can not slip off.

My wife and I did an extinsive research about best boosters that fullfill these criteria: 1) Adaptability (to change from a booster with back support to just a seat booster as our boy grows); 2) Quality Cover (fabric should not be polyster); 3) Easiness to use and store; and 4) Price.
Bottom line: this booster has exceptionally fullfilled all these criteria plus my 3 year old son just loves it and when he falls asleep, he can rest his head on either supportive sides which is great. |
