5.0 out of 5 stars My Firstborn... for my sister
This book is so amazing! It describes me & my older sister perfectly! It's a kids book, but I'm giving it to her for Christmas and she's 33 this year. I laughed at all the stories about this bear family... they are so much like my family. A cute story, great illustrations....

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Stereoptyped
I am a psychologist and bought all 3 books in the series when my son's wife gave birth to his 3rd child. I didn't preview it before I read these books to the oldest as well as to newly deemed "middle child." I was disapointed and a bit apologetic to their parents when we all read it together. These children knew the message(s) in the book were related to them. I felt that...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift for the new big sisters and brothers, August 1, 2005
This review is from: My Firstborn, There's No One Like You (Birth Order Books) (Hardcover)
I ordered all 3 of the books in this series as gifts to my children upon the arrival of our third child. My oldest is three and she loves for me to read this story to her and tell her about the events of her birth and life. It really helped her feel special in her place in our growing and changing family!

All parents of first borns should own this book. It is laugh out loud funny and brings tears of joy to your eyes. This book rang so true to our first born, even though he's of a different gender than the character in the book. I buy this for all my friends!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for fans of Dr. Leman, January 3, 2008

This review is from: My Firstborn, There's No One Like You (Birth Order Books) (Hardcover)
These books are so wonderful, I'm so glad all three of my girls got them from Christmas. My girls are 5, 2 and 10 months so only the oldest really understood hers. That's fine with me; the younger two will grow into their books. It's amazing how much this book describes my child exactly. Yes the book is a bit long winded for a young child, but my 5-year-old enjoys it. Yes, these books are VERY Christian oriented- as are all Dr. Leman's books. If you are a fan of Dr. Leman's other books you will love this for your child (or sibling).

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for older children older than five., August 8, 2005
This review is from: My Firstborn, There's No One Like You (Birth Order Books) (Hardcover)
This book is very good to read to your firstborn. I purchased it as something special to read since baby sister came along. It is a little long winded for younger children. I have a four year old that is very interested in books and she was a little bored. I think the reading sections on each page are a too long for her. It is still a very good book. I look forward to sharing it with her more in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Raising a firstborn..., July 11, 2005

... is fun and challenging! He fits the book to a "T".

The only thing I don't like about the books is that on every page the cub is asking if mama cub loves them the most... so far that isn't an issue in our family. On the last page it does say that mama cub loves all her cubs, but gives specific reasons she love the first born. I hope this books doesnt make that a "problem" for us.

This is a nice book to read to toddlers. As a first born, I can relate to the information Dr. Leman provides. There is a special relationship between parents and the first born child and this book helps to put it into words kids can understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars My youngest loved it!, January 30, 2010

My 7 yr. old and my 4 yr. old are always asking which we love the best.....and we always reply that we love them both the best! This book really explains the ways that the special birth orders have in our hearts....why the first born is always special b/c they were first, and why the younges is always special b/c they are the last baby (and why the middle is special- but we don't have one of those!). Our kids beg for their "special" books as their night time story every night now. So happy we bought this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good for Firstborns, January 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: My Firstborn, There's No One Like You (Birth Order Books) (Hardcover)
I love Kevin Leman and am a big fan of his stuff, so I was anxious to get these for my kids, now that I have 3. The books are written using generalizations about birth order, which is true more often than not. In these books the kids are two girls and then a boy, so it's the opposite of my household, but my oldest understood and went along with it. He seemed to really like the book and thought it was neat that they each have their own book now, but some of the info in it was a little off since it's based on generalizations. Overall, it's worth it to get to make your child feel special and like his place in the family has its unique qualities.

I have always enjoyed the books by Dr. Kevin Leman about birth order. I purchased this for a "fun" Christmas book (2009). Good Idea for children to see a quick synopsis of their family consellation
