5.0 out of 5 stars What a clean hole
As you can tell from the title of this review, I am impressed with these brad point bits. I recently built a hobby table for a Christmas gift, and the table was built of hard clear maple. These bits did a marvelous job. Fisch recommends a 2-3,000 rpm speed range and my drill press belt ratio put mine at 2610 rpm, almost perfect. The holes were clean and burr free each...

Save your money and buy some nice cobalt or titanium nitride bits. These bits do blowout in most veneered materials and are useless in all MDF products. They clog almost immediately. I had high hopes for these when I bought them three years ago, but since I paid so much for them I can't bring myself to just throw them away. The best feature is that they do center very...

This review is from: Fisch H150007K Vortex-D 7 Bit 1/8-Inch to 1/2-Inch Brad Point Twist Drill Bit Assortment in Wooden Case (Tools & Home Improvement)
The holes were clean and burr free each time. After drilling over a hundred holes, I wanted my local blade sharpening shop to check them out. They said it was clearly a quality HSS bit, that had an interesting tip spur configutration that maintains the outside hole diameter while drilling, and no clean up or sharpening was necessary. Whatever the reason, I can assure you that these bits drill a nice, clean, burr free hole. I cant attest to how much the bits are worth in relation to the walnut case they come in, but after using these brad points, I dont care. A nice set that should last for years to come, I certainly recommend these. One other note, like most products, HSS is graded, my sharpening service ( who has a very good reputation locally ) said that these were true HSS steel and despite being more expensive initially, will endure fewer sharpenings over their life span. Pay now, or pay later.

The best feature is that they do center very well when started. After that, expect problems.
