This review is from: Fish Story (Kindle Edition)
I don't often buy single short stories for my Kindle, but having read author Marva Dasef's memorable "Tales of a Texas Boy," I expected to enjoy "Fish Story," and I did.

It's a nice story about a colony established on a planet of a sun located several light years from Earth. The colonists have done fairly well, since their adopted planet has plenty of flora, but for inexplicable reasons, there are no animals, and the animals brought with the colonists have all died. The colonists are getting enough protein from plants they grow, but they long for the taste of meat.

One day, one of the youths discovers that there are indeed animals on the planet. This discovery turns out to be a mixed blessing. The meat provided by the animals is a welcome change in the colonists' diet, but there are unexpected consequences.

To say anything else would be a spoiler, so you'll have read the story yourself to learn any more.

"Fish Story" would be a good entry in an anthology, or it could be the basis for a sci fi novel if the author chose to expand the story.

My Kindle edition of the story had a few minor typos and glitches, but nothing that affected my enjoyment of the story.
