My daughter loves it. Me? Not so much,

This review is from: One Fish, Two Fish, Three, Four, Five Fish (Dr. Seuss Nursery Collection) (Board book)
I didn't quite remember what the original One Fish, Two Fish book was about, but when I read on this board book that it was "inspired by the Dr. Seuss original" I realized that this was someone capitalizing on the Seuss enterprise. Nonetheless, my daughter LOVES LOVES LOVES this book. It's Seussian rhyming makes her giggle when I read it. The other Seuss books don't seem to come in Board books, so it's what I can get for now, so I'm placated. I personally think that it was sloppily put together and some of the words are used repetitively. It's also about two to four pages shorter than most other board books. (Short board books can be agony for parents since it means that your kids will ask you to read it more often. I've read this book maybe 20 times in the span of 5 minutes for her once.) One nice touch, however, are the little plastic fish at the top which I use as a sort of abacus and teach my 18 month old daughter how to count to five by demonstrating with the fish. At the very least, it's a great learning prop.

Short but sweet,
This review is from: One Fish, Two Fish, Three, Four, Five Fish (Dr. Seuss Nursery Collection) (Board book)
This book is about 10 pages long and only a few words on every page, but my 16 month year old baby likes it. He also likes that he can play with the fish on top of the book. It still kinda teaches about colors and numbers one to five. A Preschooler would probably get bored with this, but just right for babies.

My Son Loves It,
This review is from: One Fish, Two Fish, Three, Four, Five Fish (Dr. Seuss Nursery Collection) (Board book)
My 2 1/2 year old son loves this book. It is simple enough that he has memorized it and "reads" it himself.

This book has the right amount of text. It's for babies and young toddlers, who have short attention spans.
It's short enough for her to follow to the end. The plastic fish at top that she play with draws her to the book. I love the nursery edition.

Counting beads are great! Adaptation is poorly written.,

The colorful counting beads are fun for babies to play with/learn to count/learn colors. However, the adaptation of the book "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" was done very poorly. The rhymes in this book are forced and lacks the natural rhythm of usual limericks/poems. As previous reviewers have said, the text is unusually short. I understand that the goal of the book is to provide a Seussian counting book, but they really could have tried a little harder when putting this together. Here is the the text for those of you who would like to know:"One fish two fish/ red fish blue fish./ Black fish blue fish/ old fish new fish./ Three fish four fish./ Here come more fish!/ This one has a little star./ Say! What a lot of fish there are./ 1 One fish 2 two fish 3 three 4 four 5 five./ This one has a car to drive! [end]

Disappointing for Adults but Fun for Kids,
This review is from: One Fish, Two Fish, Three, Four, Five Fish (Dr. Seuss Nursery Collection) (Board book)
Our one-year-old daughter loves this book. She likes the little fish on top and likes the brightly-colored fish throughout the book. However, my husband and I are disappointed by the lack of creativity ("red fish, blue fish" next page: "black fish, blue fish") and the interrupted rhyming pattern toward the middle. Also, like others have said, the ending is very abrupt, and you're left wondering where the rest of the story is.

Young Reader & Toddlers will Love this Book!,

This book has everything you could want in one book for your toddler. It is colorful, whimisical and teaches counting. There are only a few words on each page, so it's great for younger readers and for those who need a short book for short attention spans.

Not much text in it, but my daughter loves this book. Very sturdy and she likes to move the fishes across the top. She wants it read over and over again. I think Dr. Seuss just had a fabulous knack for writing well with fun rhyming.

My daughter loves this book!,

Yes, it is a shorter version of the original, but its simple enough to keep her attention and she loves the rhyme of the text. She smiles every night when I pick up the book to read it to her. She just adores it!

My toddler loves this one. The illustrations are short and crisp and just simple enough for my 18 month old. I am referring to the board book edition.
