First, it registers every sound in the room through a 5-light display (two channels cut back on static for parents). It also works to sooth Baby--who may be the noise-maker--by instantly projecting a serene, underwater scene on the ceiling, accompanied by soothing, familiar lullabies and sounds. This monitor was terrible! Even with the volume turned all the way up both on the child receiver and the parent receiver, I still couldn't hear my son. Sometimes I would hear him crying from the other room but couldn't hear him on the monitor! Useless! I liked the light show so we bought the FisherPrice Flutter Bye Crib Attachment, which has a light show, and then traded this monitor in for the Fisher Price 900mhz monitor which has crystal clear reception.

I love this monitor!! When my little guy cries, the light show starts automatically, calming him down before I even get there. I had the old Sounds and Lights monitor for my oldest, and we loved the fish light show for the second. I have bought this monitor for every shower I have attended, and all my girlfriends love it, too.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO BE USED AS A BABY MONITOR. I HAVE TRIED TWO OUT AND THEY ARE BOTH WORTHLESS. YOU CAN NOT HEAR YOUR BABY THROUGH IT, WHICH DEFEATS THE PURPOSE.I GAVE IT ONE STAR FOR THE COLORFUL LIGHT SHOW THAT IS CUTE. BUT AS A MONITOR FORGET IT. FISHER PRICE WILL NEED TO REMAKE THIS IN ORDER FOR CUSTOMERS TO WANT IT. THE LIGHTS AND SOUNDS MONITOR IS LESS EXPENSIVE AND OF MUCH BETTER QUALITY.
