Product Description

The original Bullet Space Pen was conceived in July of 1948. Paul Fisher was soon machining a new pen design shaped from solid aluminum. It became the first Fisher ball point pen, the #400 Bullet Pen, is arguably the most popular pen of the twentieth century. This pen is now all brass with a Black Titanium Nitride finish.When closed, the Bullet Space Pen is the perfect size to carry in your wallet, pocket, purse, car glove box, organizer or toolbox. When open it's a full sized, evenly balanced writing instrument. The patented ink cartridge was designed by Paul Fisher for NASA in the 1960's enabling it to write in temperatures from -30 to +250 degrees Fahrenheit, under water, in zero gravity, at any angle, even upside down.

This is a great pocket pen that is surprisingly easy to dent. Oddly, even with (mostly) solid brass construction coated with the notoriously ultra-durable Titanium Nitride coating, after dropping it (admittedly on concrete) it is dented. It rides in my pocket with my keys all day and has no scratches though so the finish is very tough.

I imagined this pen, especially in it's "bullet' form, to be nearly indestructible. It does have a very tough finish, but unfortunately, it will dent, and then that durable finish is deformed. Not scratched, but deformed.

I admit to nit-picking, but it is the only flaw I've found after months of ownership. Don't drop it on concrete and it will remain immaculate.

Oh, and it writes good too.

The bullet pen rides in your pocket like no other. It does not poke you like many others and writes well in all conditions and angles. This is a great pen.

I had been using a similar model, silver finish with a clip, for several years and was quite happy with it. Then I misplaced it and needed a replacement.

The finish on this one is better for me, not quite as bright and shiny, and the lack of a clip makes it fit better into my pocket without a chance of scratching my phone.

...and of course it has the same consistent, smooth ink flow as all the space pens do, regardless of writing position. In short: recommended.

When I opened the metal gift box that the pen came in, I was astonished by the beauty of the pen. I was skeptical about buying this because I thought the etched grip looked kind of weird in the pictures, and overall, the pen didn't look THAT great (I owned a matte black bullet already so I already knew how it felt and wrote). All I can say is that the picture does this pen no justice. It is very smooth and comfortable to write with. More comfortable than the matte black one because of the etched grip. If you're thinking about getting this TiN coated bullet or the matte black bullet, I'd go with this one. It's worth the extra money, plus it's covered by a lifetime guarantee.

I have been using the Fisher space pens for over 30 years. I always carry one in my front right pocket. I carried the same black bullet space pen for over seven years until I gave it to a pizza delivery guy who didn't believe the "Space Pen" was real.

This pen does not leak. Works every time in freezing cold or extremely hot conditions. Will not ruin clothes pockets or bags when stored. Many have gone through the washing machine and dryer over the years.

I often gift Bullet Pens to Colleages. Besides always working regardless of conditions, the Black Titaniun Nitride Bullet Pen is extremely confortable and an attractive tool.

The black titanium color is striking and beautiful. It's very dark but also silvery and chrome. Like all other Bullet Space Pens, the minimal profile and uncapping/converting operation of this pen is flawless. This is IMO the nicest looking finish in the entire line. I get a lot of positive comments whenever I pull it out.

The color is EXTREMELY durable. I have it in my pocket every day with coins and keys and there is not a single scratch. I have a small dent at the tip from a very bad drop, but the finish is unmarred. I've owned these for years and only replace them when I lose them (which is about once every other year). I've actually never had one fail on me or even run out of ink.

The finish on this pen looks very nice. Sadly mine arrived with a chip on one end and on the other there was a sharp and rough metal burr. On a pen where you pay nearly double the price for the nicer finish you expect it to be flawless. I had another of these years ago in the polished metal and it was smooth on the ends.Of course now the pen is out of stock with Amazon and only available from another seller for a higher price, so it is going back for a credit and I will look elsewhere for a new pen.

I've been working on perfecting my every day carry (EDC) and one of the iffy things to me was a pen. A lot of the small/travel pens are just uncomfortable to use, like the one on my victorinox manager - it's there if you need it but really no one wants to use it. I'd tried a few full sized pens and they always fit weird in my pocket when I'd move or sit down. I'd been looking for a pen that would work and stumbled on to the Fisher Space pens and I'm glad I did.

When closed the pen is about half the length of a normal pen but when you open it and place the cap back on it's a full sized pen. The writing is smooth and fluid.

I will note it's not perfect to me. The ink can smear a little and I wish they had a finer point but I'll make due with those minor issues for now given how small and comfortable this pen is. One word of note - it's a bit slick and can/will slide out of your pocket occasionally. I tend to keep it in my cargo pocket or in the front pocket of jeans so it's only slipped out once since then but it is worth noting.

Pros:
++ Tiny
++ Comfortable
+ Smooth

Cons:
- Cost
- no fine point
- easy to lose from your pocket (or easier than other pens)

Overall, very very pleased. I'd buy again but maybe look a little more to see if there was a fine-point option or to get one of the ones with a clip to add more texture to it.
