Disappointing Quality for the Price,
By
This review is from: Fisher Price Diego's Talking Rescue Center (Toy)
My husband and I bought this for our son's 3rd birthday. He went nuts when it saw it at the store before his birthday, so we decided to get it for him. He loves imaginative play and Diego and we knew this would be perfect for him.
After putting the toy together, which was very easy, I noticed that it fell apart so quickly. The legs that hold the treehouse part of the the toy up constantly fall off if you try to pick it up and move it. When you push down the nest on the rooftop, which activates the helicopter to fly around, the whole rescue center wobbles around with it. The swinging door doesn't close all the way and the "zip line" that attaches to the little hut comes off when you try to slide Diego down it. The elevator lift doesn't slide up and down the post easily at all. You have to tilt it up and then slide it. The rescue pack that helps Diego slide down the zip line is very difficult to get on Diego. As much as my son loves this toy, it is very frustating for him when it doesn't work like it should. I get lots of "Mommy can you fix this!?!?" when he plays with it. If it wasn't $40 and maybe like $20, I wouldn't have been as disappointed.

Best toy ever!,

This review is from: Fisher Price Diego's Talking Rescue Center (Toy)
We bought Diego's Animal Rescue Center for our 2 year old daughter for her birthday, because she has really started getting into the Diego show and saw the toy on commercials. I was skeptical after reading some reviews about how the toy fell apart all the time. In fact, we almost didn't get it based on those reviews but decided to give it a chance at the last minute. My girls, ages 2 and 4 yrs. LOVE, LOVE this toy!! It has kept them entertained for hours and they really use their imaginations in acting out scenarios for Diego and the many animals! I would NOT agree with other reviewers about the quality. We haven't had ANY problems with this toy falling apart, everything works perfectly, even the zip line! It might break apart if your kids are smashing it around, but with average play, it is fine. Grandma and Grandpa bought the extra playsets, which gives Diego even more animals to rescue. My ONLY complaint is that I cannot find a set that has Alicia, Diego's sister, because my 2 year old LOVES her! All in all, a wonderful purchase! My kids have learned alot about animals and have been enthralled in play so mommy can get a little work done! :)

So-so design but a favorite none the less,

As other reviewers have already stated, the construction of this rescue center is not great. The legs fall out easily, the zip cord is disappointing and my kids can't move the elevator at all. That being said, my two year old and four year old love to play with it and create Diego adventures with the figures. So even though it isn't the best designed toy, it offers imaginative play and the kids love it.

Not Super Impressed,
This review is from: Fisher Price Diego's Talking Rescue Center (Toy)
My 5 year old insisted on asking Santa for this. We thought he'd be bored with it, and he is. My 3 year daughter enjoys it more, so I would stay in the 2-3.5 age range. My biggest complaint, though, is the quality of this toy. The door does not stay shut, the legs are not secured well enough in the base, and the elevator is IMPOSSIBLE to use. When you attempt to use it, either the legs pull out of the base or you pull so hard everything falls off the elevator or out of the treehouse. My own personal pet peeve is the noise. Every toy that makes noise should have a volume switch!! This does have an on/off switch, but it would be nice to turn the volume down without shutting it off completely. The Deigo figure is nice and solid and fits nicely in the helicopter and cart. Around Christmas this item was $36. Certainly not worth that much! Maybe worth $15-20 if you're buying for a young child and are aware of the design problems.

My son loves it but I dont!,

My 3 yr old absolutly loves Diego and Dora so of course this item was #1 on his birthday list. It was very easy to put together.....thus making it very easy to take apart! I can't tell you how many times a day I have to put this back together! It's become quite annoying! The locks that are on it (to snap the legs into the base) do not lock at all, you do hear a snap but can pull them right out.
As far as my child...he loves it! He can play with it all day.

We bought this toy on sale. I did not mind paying $[...] but I would have been disappointed at the regular price of $[...]. It was very easy to put together but does need an adult to move it from room to room since it can come apart easy. I am disappointed with the "zip line". It is really a yellow plastic wand looking like a cord. It is not string nor does it look like the item in the pictures. The zip cord works best if it sits on the tree house attached to the tent and does not move. Or as my son found out last night a wonderful Harry potter Wand. Needless to say my son who is 4 loves this item and has not stopped playing with it.

This was the only toy that my 5 year old asked for for Christmas. She continuously reminded me every time she saw it in a store or in an ad. She has always enjoyed Diego but by the end of Christmas day she was telling us that she was already bored with it and really hasn't touched it since.

My daughter's favorite toy this year!,
By Karin D. (Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fisher Price Diego's Talking Rescue Center (Toy)
My 3 1/2 year old daughter got this toy for Christmas last week, and she LOVES it. I was actually pretty impressed by it, because this toy actually has a lot to offer. She loves playing with Diego, the animals, his little rescue car, the elevator to hoist the rescued animals up, all the neat sounds and dialogue from the show, the helicopter with its little rescue basket, and the (crappy) zip cord.
I was hesitant to buy this toy, because I had heard so many bad reviews on it regarding stability. I have not had a single stability problem. In fact, I was surprised that so many people had a problem. I think it's pretty darn sturdy. The zip cord, on the other hand, is a piece of crap. It falls off if the Rescue Center moves even slightly, and it really is impossible for a little kid to get Diego into that little harness. The two problems about Diego's Talking Rescue Center that really bother me are: 1. There is a piece of floor for the treehouse that doesn't come assembled. It just snaps on, really. Well, let me tell you, I've had to re-snap that piece of floor back on several times already, because it keeps snapping off! The first time it happened was about after 5 minutes of play. 2. There's no Alicia (Diego's sister)! Of course, the first words out of my daughter's mouth when we opened this toy was, "Mommy, where's Alicia??" Sigh. Come on, Nick Jr., Diego doesn't save those animals alone! All in all, it really is a great toy. It has so much to do, and so many cool features to keep kids busy for quite a long while!! I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!

We bought this toy for our 3 and 4 year old boys and they loved it at first. It falls apart very easily, and after only about a month, the helicopter wouldn't spin anymore. [...]. This toy is definitely not worth the money.

The kids really get into playing with this toy however it is a pain. The folding flap keeps snapping off and the zipcord does not stay in place. The set comes apart completely by just lifting it up off the ground. It's not very well constructed for the amount of money we paid for it. Unless you don't mind putting toys together repeatedly I wouldn't recommend this toy especially for $40.
