Ordered the Fisher F2 on Saturday around midday and got it less than 48hrs later, Monday 10am. As I ordered from Salzburg/Austria/Europe in the States I find that pretty good. What I found also pretty good were my first 2hrs 10min using it.

I spent the rest of that Monday with buying stuff you need for that...for digging etc. Today I first read the manual and went through the short introduction. That took me half an hour. Then I packed everything together and started the adventure.

I went to an old (really old) stone pit in the woods near a mountain, not used since decades (many) where normally no people show up... and I found plenty of... waste. Well, at least old waste. Tabs, beer cans, various cans and: 1 shell Freres MEN 6x62 and 1 complete round Mauser FNM 71-8 (I had to remove the projectile very careful at home to remove the grain). Additionally I found two iron V-notches (wedges? chocks?) obviously used to separate the stone blocks. The were buried really deep and must be very old.

So I probably found nothing valuable but interesting things and I learned very fast how to ignore the totally worthless stuff from the at least interesting one. This tool is great! The depth indicator works very well, on larger iron items the material indicator doesn't work but as the manual says: it's made for coin sized material.

Everything else is perfect. Easy to understand and use. Very light and easy to transport in a back pack.

If you want to start that hobby: go for the Fisher F2!

Great item! My first Metal detector ever its easy to learn and use works great and the batteries last a long time. The only thing i have not yet tested is if its water proof but so far i am VERY impressed and satisfied

I purchased this and received it the very next day. Out of the box it's ready to go...I strongly recommend you discriminate out iron unless you're hunting specifically for iron relics.

The Fisher F2 Metal Detector does not disappoint. It has four tones, a numeric range and metal indicator tabs on the screen that help to indicate what type of metal you have just discovered underground. When detecting in a nearby field, the low tone indicated a iron object and we dug up an old plow point. The higher tone and impressive pin pointer feature helped us locate an old brass bullet shell and a dime. We also dug up an old kitchen pan and part of an iron skillet. The discrimination feature is great but we are willing to dig it all. The F2 is lightweight and well made. We love it!
