Disappointing to me not as much to him!,

I was awaiting the release of this toy. He loves his blocks and block toys but none of the roll-a-rounds toys were his type. So he had about 25 balls but no toy to go with them. This looked perfect! He enjoys it but not like I thought he would (he LOVES balls). Here are my problems with it.
(1) The middle hole, it drops down to make the pendulum swing and more then half of the time, the ball gets stuck at that point. (2) The balls get stuck coming out of that hole as well... (3) The head comes off real easily and its never on the toy (he takes it off every time especially since its easy to get off) (4) kind of boring... thought there would be a spiral slide of some variety as kids love that. (5) music & lights are nothing special either. I usually LOVE FP toys and we own sooo many. I am happy with my incredi-table and with the wagon for the blocks. This one just wasn't worth t he money. ---------- UPDATE: 11/06/2008 Well, we're on boy #3 that is using this toy. It's held up extremely well and even my oldest plays with it still. The balls still get stuck... now there is a whole other element to getting stuck as they loves to put their cars in it (down the slide through teh mouth, down the block-slide...). Guess it was worth the money after all (and not what it's listed here as..)

We couldn't wait to take this beast out of it's box! This dinosaur is a lot of fun. My 8 month old doesn't quite understand the point or the cause and effect, yet. Nonetheless, she still likes the lights and sounds.
This toy does come in pieces. It took my 6 and 7 year old daughters less than ten minutes to put it together. Note that it requires 3 AA batteries for sound and lights. It is still fun without the effects. Let me clarify the pendulum, for anyone trying to figure out the photo in the ad. When a roll-a-round is put into the orange hole, the ball goes down a ramp, pushing this pendulum-shaped piece out of its way so it can exit the dinosaur's stomach. There is no cover over this part, so nothing can get clogged up by a an oddly shaped toy of your child's choosing. This is what I don't like: 1- This is made with, what is becoming, typical Fisher-Price quality. When my older children were this age, everything seemed more solid, with a heavier-duty plastic. There is one place on the back of our dinosaur where the plastic was not even cut in a straight line, and looked a little jagged. It does appear safe, however. 2- The last 2 baby items we purchased from Fisher-Price looked, as this one does, dirty and used. There are a few small places where the toy looked like it was dragged across a rough surface. All in all, this is a great toy. The sound effects are entertaining, but not annoying with 2 volume levels (loud and louder) and an off switch, which also turns off the lights. The "Roar" is not loud or scary. It comes with 4 roll-a-rounds with dino babies in them (one is an egg that opens and shuts). I recommend this toy to babies 9-18 months.

I was so excited when we got this toy for our six month old. He loves it. The roll-a-rounds are wonderful to begin with then this addition just makes playing that much better. The songs and noises are great. Kids from all ages love this toy. From our seven month old to our six and a half year old and all ages in between, they just love it. I definatly recommend this to everyone.

My son recieved this as a 1st birthday gift and he absolutely loves it! It's the first toy he plays with in the morning. As a parent, i really appreciate the fact that the songs it plays as rewards aren't annoying. I 've gotta admit, the dinosaur face is pretty cute, too.

My 9 month old enjoys playing with it, only for the music. The first week it was exciting that he was learning to put the balls in the holes. But now he figured out all he has to do is push the thing that makes the music play. Now that is all he does, or uses it to try and stand up.
We have it up against a wall to prevent it from tipping. The balls are great though- he loves to bang them together! He also has the blocks like the balls- which he loves. Also- the balls ALWAYS get stuck in the middle hole and you have to fish them out of the dinosaur.

My 12 month old son received this toy as a gift. The toy takes up a lot of space for very little excitement/return of play value. It was a week before my son figured out the little buttons turned on the music and he didn't even need to push the balls through. On average, when he did play with it, it was for about 30 seconds. We have hardwood floors and the balls just rolled away under the furniture. So that was a pain too! Eventually, it became something he climbed up on to reach other things so it was removed to the basement before he turned 18 months. Also, the little trap door kept falling off and on one of the ball paths, the ball kept getting stuck somewhere in the dinosaur. I'd save my money and buy something smaller, less expensive and with more features to keep the child's interest.

This toy was bought for my 1 year old son. He loves to put the balls in the holes and watch them tumble down the stairs and slides. It has music and lights that keeps him wanting to play with it. I love the fact that you can put the toy up against the wall and he can still play with it. This is a great toy for younger kids. I also love the fact that replacement balls are so easy to get and they also can be used for other toys.

we got this for my son's first birthday, and he loves it. my 2 year old also plays with it frequently. neither of my boys have been able to remove the dinosaur's head as one reviewer had complained about. i will say that sometimes the balls get stuck in the holes, but my boys enjoy sticking things in holes where they don't belong just so they can dig them out, so that's ok with us. it's even more fun when we put the dinosaur on our fireplace mantle, that way when the balls come out, they go flying across the floor for the boys to chase. that alone is enough entertainment for my husband and i.

Had a very difficult time finding toys that would hold my one year olds interest. My son is now 16 months and this toy actually holds his interest and one of the only toys he will sit and play with. I highly recommend this toy for any child who is high energy. It also helps with their fine and gross motor skills. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!
