My husband and I chose not to put our daughter in her own crib until she was nearly five months old- we found late-night feedings to be much easier to deal with if she was with us, and we also enjoyed the family closeness co-sleeping afforded. But once she went into her own crib, the Kick 'n Learn piano was the first thing we put in with her. She loved the piano from the very beginning, althought it did take her a little bit to realize that she was in control of making the noises. Now that she is aware, she's having great fun with this toy. I find it to be most useful at night when she doesn't want to be put to sleep- I put her in the crib, turn on the Peaceful Planet Aquarium, and if that doesn't put her to sleep, she wiggles down to the piano and starts playing it. A feature I really like about the piano is that it has several different settings: one plays one note per kick, one plays music the whole time it's on, and it changes tunes with each kick, and one calls out a different animal for each note letter ("A... Ape", "B... Bear", etc.); then it plays the sound that animal makes, followed by a short tune. My daughter seems to like this setting the best. Once she falls asleep for the night, the piano stays on standby, and it doesn't seem to drain the battery much, if at all. When she wakes, she usually finds her way back to the piano, and starts playing it for a while. This helps my husband and I greatly- once we hear the little tunes coming from her room, we warm up a bottle, so we're ready to go as soon as she vocalizes her hunger. Before we had this piano, she'd wake up cranky and crying out of boredom. Now that she has the Kick 'n Learn, she wakes up happy and relaxed. On many occasions, my husband or I have gone into her bedroom in the morning while she's playing, and she greets us with a smile. For babies who thrive on rituals, this is an indispensable addition to their crib.

This is a great, versatile toy that can be used at the foot of the crib for a little "kicker", or on the side of the crib so that it can be hit by little hands. My 3 month old didn't quite get the knack of kicking it yet. But she loves to sit with it on her lap, either in her seat or on my lap, and enjoy the lights and sound. It has different modes, like piano, animal sounds, letters, and continuous song play, which all come in handy at some time. The continuous mode is good in the crib because it plays much longer than her mobile! It is nice that it will auto shutoff after a while so you don't waste the batteries. And the volume control is another good feature. The only downside that I can see to this is that sometimes a key will appear to "stick" or not play when it is hit the first time. Perhaps the sensitivity area is not large enough on the keys. But all in all, it is a good value. And it will get much use for a long time, because I know when she is a toddler (and older) she will still be having fun with it.

My son is a tummy sleeper, so really he does not have much opportunity to use this as a kick toy in his crib. So, we tied it onto the side of the crib to use as a soother at bedtime. I remove it during the day and we use it as an entertainer by propping my son on his tummy on a Boppy pillow, and propping the Kick N Learn piano on a pillow in front of him. He loves to reach out and push all the buttons. We also prop it beside him when he lies on his back during play time and he laughs and coos at the lights. He is 3.5 months old now, and I can see this toy being entertaining for much longer. I love how the animal sounds are friendly and cute, not scary like some animal sounds on other toys are. (although the ape sound makes my Border Collie go crazy!) The softness of the toy makes it safe if your little one likes to scoot all around the crib as mine does, and the timer on the long play mode is just right if you use it as a soother.

I received this as a baby shower gift for my son. So, it's always been in his crib. When he was a newborn I would put it on "auto pilot" and he enjoyed the ten minutes worth of music. When he was about 4 months and learned to kick he really began to enjoy it. Now that he's 9 months old he loves it. In the interactive mode it only plays when you touch it. I leave it on and when he wakes in the morning he is prefectly happy making his own music, animal sounds, etc. It's funny to wake up and hear a cat "meowing" or a sheep "baaing" into the baby monitor! I love it because it keeps him occupied in the morning and I get a few extra minutes of sleep. (Did I say extra?) It's great on batteries. I haven't had to change the batteries yet! It's durable, too. Before it was put in the crib, I was showing it to my sister-in-law and her four old daughter. The four year old thought it was one of the mats you stand on and make music. To my dismay she put it on the floor and commenced jumping up and down on it. I was so upset, but found that it didn't damage it at all! I would definitely recommend this crib toy.

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas, when she was six months old. She has two music lovers for parents, so we weren't surprised to see that she loved music more than anything else when she was born. It was about time to retire the mobile, and I knew she wouldn't let go of it easily, so I thought maybe this Piano would be the answer. She was totally thrilled with it when she opened the package and got to play with it. She loves to kick every toy she has, and this one was made for it! She loved being able to hit the keys with her feet and make the songs change. Well, it's two months later, and the first thing she does when we put her in the crib, and when she wakes up, is roll over to the piano and push one of the keys to start the music! After that, she will play with it for almost an hour before falling asleep or wanting out of the crib. She doesn't even look at the mobile any more, so I can finally take it off the crib. (It should have been off the crib months ago, but she isn't pulling herself up yet and it hasn't been a problem.)

I received this as a gift when my son was 6 weeks old. I took it out of the box when he was 8 weeks and attached it to his crib. He is a natural kicker, so he kicked it and got it to play music and animal sounds. That was it, the kickfest began! He has had hour long playing sessions with this toy. He is now six months old and more active so he'll play with it for at least 20 minutes. Sometimes I forget to turn the knob off,and in the middle of the night sometimes I hear "B bear.... growwwwwwlll", and I laugh to myself. It's play time! Usually after a few kicks, he's back to sleep. Also it plays upbeat contiuous music that sometimes I let play while he is playing with other toys.

My baby loves to kick and kicking this toy gives an immediate and exciting response! I really can't tell you if hearing "A--Ape" "B-Bear" "C-Cat," etc and the accompanying animal noises will help him to learn those words/letters, but it really entertains him. A short little tune plays after the animal sound. If the kick lands toward the bottom of the pad, instead of "C-Cat", you may hear "Three" and then three musical tones. It's fun and it's a good way to get a baby who doesn't necessarily like being in the crib to forget he's in the crib for a while.

We purchased this toy for our baby girl before she turned one. But we found that the crib "kicking" setup didn't work as pictured. She really didn't use it until she was around 2. And then she decided it would also be fun to walk and jump on while on the floor. At this age 2-3 now two of our girls have used it and it is extremely durable. They literally jump on it and it keeps on working. It has a couple of modes of play that allow it to long play songs or act more like a piano. The kids love both.

I can't say enough good things about this product. Our son absolutely loved it from the day we brought him home from the hospital. It is the perfect toy not just because the baby loves it, but it is a useful tool in helping put the baby to sleep. It's best feature is the fact that it shuts off automatically after 10 minutes. It plays a good variety of tunes as well. It teaches the baby about different animals and the sounds they make, it also teaches counting. This is a great product and I highly recommend it.

My 3 month old likes to lay in her crib and kick it but right now she can't see the lights when she lays down and if I try to prop her up on a pillow to use it she won't kick because it is too hard. I have placed her facing it on the side and she likes to hit the buttons with her hands and then she can see the lights which she does love. I love it because I love to see her rewarded for exercising her little legs and the look she gets on her face when she changes the music! This really is a great crib toy, it is interactive versus most of the other stare and watch toys for cribs! I only gave it 4 stars for fun because she can't see the lights when she lays on her back but that is the only drawback I have found so far!!!
