Fisher-Price 1-2-3 Lights 'n Sounds Ball

I bought this for my 10-month old boy and he LOVES it. His favorite part is the ball, which is basically a clear beach ball with a bell/rattle inside. He loves to roll it around, pat (or sometimes pound) on it and he also picks it up, throws it and the crawls after it. We probably could have just gotten him a beach ball for less $$, but I did buy this toy at a local big box store at the holidays for less than half this price (I paid fifteen dollars). My son does enjoy the spinners and noises the base makes too, so for the amount we paid for it, it's worth it. With the ball attached to the base, he tends to pick the whole thing up, base and all, so we usually play with the two parts separately most of the time. A nice "feature" is that the ball can be deflated and it takes up much less space for storage. Would buy again or recommend to others at a lower price - not sure it's worth upwards of thirty dollars, which it is listed here at the time I'm writing this review.

This toy seems pretty pointless for my 7 month old- nothing to really interact with for a curious and playful baby. Also, more importantly I just saw online that it's been recalled as of September 2010 due to choking hazard: There is apparently a kit they can send you to replace whatever is causing the choking hazard- but the toy doesn't seem to be worth the energy...

After discovering that my daughter loves to play with balls, I found this for her and was excited about the lights and sounds. She was very excited about it too...for less than one minute. After we got it home, she pretty much ignored it to go to her regular $2 bouncing balls. I tried it out for myself, and found it not fun at all. It can't bounce anywhere since it's attached to the base, and the activation of lights and sounds seem random. I returned it the next day. If you want a ball that's more stimulating for a baby, I suggest "roll a-rounds".
