This is a great game! Rescue Heroes have great values for kids. Read all of the instructions...you will learn that "No One Gets Left Behind" I have to wonder about Toy enthusiast: It is true a 3+ could not play this game alone, but shouldn't parents be around to help young players when they need it?My kids never played Chutes and Ladders much - it bored them. But Rescue Heroes has Drama!

I had a different experience and thought I'd offer the other viewpoint. My 4.5 year old son loves this Rescue Heroes board game. It is similar to Chutes and Ladders but faster to play (which I appreciate). I have to help him move the pieces sometimes but it doesn't seem to be frustrating for either of us and I think it helps him think about number sequencing. Probably the biggest issue is keeping the game pieces together, because the little plastic characters are tempting to play with other places. One thing I think is worth mentioning is that this game emphasizes cooperation more than winning and losing--the one who gets to the end first invites everyone to save the rest of the pets and get to the helicopter. (You are supposed keep score of the number of animals rescued by each person, but we don't bother with that.) This is a huge plus for my son, and perhaps other kids around this age. There are plenty of other games around where they can learn lessons about winning and losing, but it's nice to have a game on the shelf that doesn't make it an issue.

My almost 5 yr old son received this game for Christmas and loves it!! It is definitely a spin off of Chutes and Ladders, but with added features. You must rescue animals on the way up. My son loves to flip the animals cards over to see which animal he "rescued". My husband and I commented on how well the game is packaged, which makes it very easy to put away neatly. Each Rescue Heroes figure has their own compartment, the cards stay together in their own compartment, and the board folds twice so the package is neat and small. Definitely a must have for any little Rescue Heroes fan!!
