4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the early rider!
My mom got this board for my 7 yr old son. This board is great because it has the handle that he can use for better balance and has the big knobby tires for use on the grass!! He doesn't have to ride on concrete. It helps him work on his balance but makes him feel like he is riding a real skateboard! It is also very wide to help him feel secure.
I recommend this for...

1.0 out of 5 stars This is the worst toy ever!
It looks fun in the picture, but there is a major design flaw with this toy - the wheels stick out so far that when the rider tries to go they end up slamming their ankle into the tire. Within 2 minutes of using this toy my son ripped open his ankle. This toy should be recalled. Do not buy it. I would send mine back, but we had already thrown out the packaging.

I recommend this for any "active" child and for the parent who doesn't want to have a heart attack every time their child goes out to play!

I purchased this for my 5-year-old boy's birthday. His eyes lit up when he saw it! It has great traction, much safer than a skateboard, even when the handle is down. We leave the handle up most of the time and use it as a scooter. The only problem we've had is when he puts his foot on the ground to scoot along he has to reach his foot out past the wide wheel that gets in his way. This doesn't seem to bother him much, he still loves it!

I bought ths for my little boy and he loved it. It was hard for him to turn it into a scooter or push it back down to a skateboard .He needed help and he pinched his finger a few times. It lasted him for about a month and then we couldn't turn it back to a scooter. My husband checked it and the pin inside had snapped. Now we just have a skateboard that is not being used. The scooter part was helping him learn. It would be a great toy if it lasted longer. He could use in our backyard without having to worry about him trying it out in the street alone.

My 6 year old loves this. It has been used by older kids (who exceed the weight limit !) and we have had no problems.

I bought this product for my daughter for Xmas two years ago. It hasn't got much use because it is difficult to steer on a narrow sidewalk. Even so, the wheels have become very loose on their plastic trucks, and I can't find a way to adjust them! If you're looking for a scooter, skip this and buy another type of scooter. If you're looking for something to train a young child to ride a skateboard, this may be for you. I'd recommend this off-road model as opposed to the one with the regluar skateboard wheels - the off-road wheels can take more abuse and they can handle riding on grass and bumps. Because of its limited speed and steering, I wouldn't recommend this for a child older than 4. Older kids will struggle to keep up with their friends riding regular scooters if they're riding a Switchboard!

5.0 out of 5 stars this is a great toy, May 8, 2005

I bought this toy for my son for Christmas, I'm back to get another for my daughter. This toy has been used without injury by my 6 year old son, who can easily move the handle up and down, by 135 lb me, and by my 180 lb skateboarding stepson, who also approves of it. My son uses this toy with all the recommended protective gear. This board is clearly not a mountainboarding board and kids can certainly break their arms by doing just about anything. As I've said before, I'm back to get another one for my 8 year old daughter

I am a Mountainboarder and this product makes me cringe at the thought of all that can and will go wrong with this. First of all a handle that doesn't detach from the board when not in use is a very bad thing. Also mountainboarding can be fun, but it is also very dangerous, and if a child wants to start doing it (no younger than 12) then get them the right equipment. If they have there heart set on it (and you can dish out the cash) get them an MBS brand mountainboard....I recommend the Ambush-scout, made by MBS, for smaller riders. Make sure they have a helmet and gloves, and all other safety equipment.

I got this for my son last year when he was 4 and he really likes it. Good for the boys who want to be adventurous but with parents who are a little cautious! It's very sturdy and durable and he likes the fact that he can use it as a scooter or skateboard. The only con I can see is that the tires are a little bit wide in the back and when he puts his foot down to push it, his ankle gets hit by the wheel. He has to be careful and makes sure his foot is placed wide enough out. Other than that, great toy!
