5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun for future Construction Workers
My 6yr old loves this program. He loves to print his dream house that he builds and decorates by himself. His favorite part is building silly sandwiches. I can hear him giggling and laughing clear across the house. This software was very easy to use and has provided many hours of entertainment for both of us. The animation is superb and very kid-friendly. We were...

3.0 out of 5 stars Would be a great game, but software flaky and untested
This would be a great game, but on the Mac it freezes up the whole machine after one or two minutes of play, and on the PC it loses sound intermittently. Also some of the activities evidently have not been properly play tested - e.g. the crane game requires far too much precision for a young child, otherwise it would be a great "fine motor" activity. I would say spend the...

We were especially fond of the sound effects and the funny things that happened when you used the wrecking ball, or filled the tire with too much air. I highly reccommend this program, it is just pure fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, fun, fun, January 10, 2001

I am a teacher of pre-school children with physical disabilities. The children in my classroom LOVE this game. They were so motiviated to play it that they learned to clip, drag and drive the trucks themselves. These are children who otherwise have motor and perceptual difficulties. They sing the songs together and have a great time. I highly recommend it to parents, and teachers alike. My only problem is getting them to play something else!

Great software for little boys (or girls I suppose) who really get into big trucks. Not much educational value, but lots of good 3-D fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars Plain Old Fun, July 11, 2000
This review is from: Fisher-Price Big Action Construction (CD-ROM)
My 4 1/2 year old son loves playing this game. It's just plain fun for him. He does not have difficulty in moving the mouse to perform various functions. In fact, he seems to be able to move about within the program very well. I would recommend this game.

Also some of the activities evidently have not been properly play tested - e.g. the crane game requires far too much precision for a young child, otherwise it would be a great "fine motor" activity. I would say spend the extra $$$ and get Tonka Digs 'n' Rigs, which is very similar, is much more reliable, and comes with add on controls for the PC. [NB: since I originally wrote this review, we've had more success running this on the PC, and if we avoid the frustrating activities such as the crane, my 4 year old actually does get a lot of enjoyment from some of the other activities. I'll now upgrade my rating from 1 star to 3 stars, but I'd still recommend Digs 'n' Rigs over this title.]

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for hours!, February 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Fisher-Price Big Action Construction (CD-ROM)
My 2 children just love this game. My 5 yr old son got it as a gift and plays it for hours at a time. My 3 yr old daughter enjoys it too. They love to sing along with the songs, build the funny sandwiches, and when the tire is filled with too much air, they almost fall out of their chair with laughter. They can play this game and have fun for hours. Now if I could just have a turn at using the computer too.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 4 1/2 year old son loves it, June 17, 2000
This review is from: Fisher-Price Big Action Construction (CD-ROM)
I rented this CD from our library and was so impressed by it's ability to "teach" eye-hand coordination to my 4 1/2 year old son I decided to buy it. Uncovering hidden treasures at the blasting site was especially fun for him as it helped him master this skill. I saw him go from a frustrated novice to a wizard with the mouse in one afternoon! Great for a beginner.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS PROGRAM!, June 19, 2000
This review is from: Fisher-Price Big Action Construction (CD-ROM)
This has to be the worse program I have EVER seen for a child! The construction vehicles control is TERRIBLE! I have never seen my son so upset with a game in all my life! I am a computer programmer and I have purchased many games for my children (50+). In this game it seems that they somehow make the vehicles into a mouse icon. It is almost impossible to line them up to preform the action necessary (pick up a rock, whatever). I have a hard time myself. It has made my child HATE using the computer, because it's so frustrating! I finally got him to go back to the computer with some Living Books games (excellent). I had forgot about the stupid Fisher-Price game - then he found it and again tried to play it. Again he got extremely frustrated, I mean he was in tears. This is true of almost ALL Fisher Price games. And of course the technical assistance is worthless.

I do not work for Living Books or any other children's games manufacturer. Please, Please, for the sake of your children. Do Not Buy this game! Go look at some Living Books games, or Humongous Entertainment games.

3.0 out of 5 stars again, simple, but loved by my son, January 10, 2004

This allows my son to smash things or blow em up, build things, and make pictures. OK, relatively mindless, but he loves it and can interact instead of passing watching the TV.

Recommended with these limitations in mind. It is a good deal in this day and age when taking your kids to the movies can bust the budget.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fisher price Construction!!! Buy!!, May 12, 2006
This review is from: Fisher-Price Big Action Construction (CD-ROM)
It is alot of fun. After buying Tonka construction I just did not have hope that there may be a good construction game. Boy was I wrong! It is so much fun and my 3 year old son just loves it!! Easy to play not like TONKA construction. Another fun truck game is TONKA town. Works fine on XP :)
