My 18 month old grandson received this toy for Christmas and although he is a little young for the toy, he can already put the screw driver in the screws and begin to turn them. It is one of the few toys that he will sit down and really focus on trying to figure out how to work it. The toy is cleverly designed with screws that work, but stay attached. Handy Manny's voice instructs the child on what part of the radio needs to be fixed. The child then removes the back of the radio and 'fixes' the part needing attention. Two of the internal radio parts are removable. This is a well designed toy that engages the child's motor, cognitive, and pretend play skills.

I bought this toy for my 3 year old daughter who absolutely LOVES Handy Manny. I didn't realize that it comes apart until I recieved it and was skeptic that she would figure out how to put it back together once she took it apart. She has had no trouble doing so though. She loves it and is always playing with it.

Since receiving this on Christmas this has probably been my 4 year olds favorite item. He loves it because you take it apart and put it back together and I love it because the pieces don't come completely apart so you don't have to worry about losing them.

Very cute toy! I got this for one of my daughters and she and her sister share it. It's durable, easy to understand directions, and the screws don't completely come out of the "take out" part for repair (thank goodness). Easy to work screwdriver and great for my almost 3yr old.
I wish the screwdriver with this toy had a different facial expression than the one already in the Handy Manny toolbox toy (we have two identical now) and I also wish the repaired toy had a few more sayings and/or songs before it "broke" again. Being a radio, you'd think it would have more song clips - tisk tisk. But it's still highly entertaining to my girls. They really feel like they're fixing it. Does take some patience and mini-skill to listen, understand which part needs to be "repaired", and replace screws. The blueprints were flimsy and I did spend $3 getting them laminated at a copy store... girls loved that. Overall, great toy for the money compared to other toys on the market - really allows them to use their imagination.

My son got this and the fix-it TV together when he turned 2. He plays with them constantly, even now 2 years later. My almost-2 year old has been playing with them since he was probably 16 months old- he can't always quite get all the screws one direction (in or out) to put the covers on or off- but he loves playing with it all and it's taught him to use a screwdriver.
These have by far been the best toys my boys have had overall- kept their attention for years, not too many pieces, doesn't take up too much room, and durable. I personally find the talking annoying, but it's an important part of how it functions. Oh, and I don't think I've yet to have to change the batteries in any of them, which is nice. We've since also gotten the fix-it motorcycle which they enjoy and seems more advanced with more pieces to swap out. Your kids will like it too if they like working on the radio. |
