5.0 out of 5 stars Light, portable, all-in-1 wonderful bassinet

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute but not practical
This bassinet is absolutely adorable but not useful for too long. My daughter slept in it for the first three weeks, but then started to squirm to much. It simply was not big enough. Just seems like a lot of money for the little use we got out of it. There is very little padding and I didnt feel comfortable adding extra padding due to S.I.D.S. I would recommend...

5.0 out of 5 stars Light, portable, all-in-1 wonderful bassinet, April 13, 2003
This review is from: Fisher Price Classical Chorus Starlight Bassinet
Once our son was 3 months old, we thought it was time for the famility to finally meet him. Of course, this meant lots of travel (by airplane and by car), so we started looking for a great portable bassinet for him (our first kid). We did see several options and we decided to give this model a try, as its features kind of captured our eyes. Well, it turned out to be an excellent buy. Why?
pros:
* Really easy to assemble as it took me less than 10 minutes to have it ready (you'll require a screwdriver, though), taking into consideration that I did read the instructions. ;-)
* It is so easy to fold and unfold.
* It is LIGHT. We did have a pack & play but they are SO heavy, that we preferred to buy a bassinet instead so we could travel as light as possible.
* It has vibration, music, and lights! Our son loved it. It was so easy for him to go to sleep in this bassinet with all these features.
* It is un-expensive.
cons:
* You'll either need a big luggage to fit this in or have a plastic bag to protect it from scratches. We do have big luggage, so taking it with us on the plane was not a problem, and for our car trips, we were able to find a spot for it, BUT, it takes some space, so this is something to think about it if space is kind of an issue [and remember that it does not include a protective cover either].
* Depending on how big your kid is, this bassinet may work for you for his/her first four months only, as hi/she can pretty fast outgrow the bassinet.

After all these pros and cons why still give it 5 stars? Mainly, because our son loved it [and hopefully, our next kids will do too, as it is really durable], and it trully fulfilled our expectations for our trip. Bottomline, it is way worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars forget the big bassinettes!, May 29, 2003
This review is from: Fisher Price Classical Chorus Starlight Bassinet
When this product was first available, back when my three year old was born, (pattern a little different, and no sound, just vibration)I was thrilled with it.It is what I used for a couple months until baby started to sleep in his crib.My son was diagnosed with reflux-(tummy spasms that made him hurl up EVERYTHING)And I found the half sit up position helped a lot-and due to VERY frequent washing, the washable pad needed to be replaced, I called Fisher Price, and had a free replacement in less than a week! But you can't beat the over all convienience, and portabilty of this product. I am eight months pregnant with my third son, and this is the first item I looked for and bought(my original has gone through MANY nieces and nephews)It's inexpensive compared to those pointless over-frilly large bassinettes, and more convienient-you can carry from room to room without disturbing baby's nap!A very smart purchase for any parent!-Only one draw back-when used as newborn night bassinette, it is lower than a bed, so you have to reach down to look, or pick up baby. But really-if you want to spend at least a hundred more $$ just so you don't have to bend over- that's completely up to you. Not worth the $$ to me!!Buy this-You'll Love It!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely PERFECT bassinet!!!, June 30, 2003

I bought this bassinet for my daughter when she was about 3 months old because we were going to the lake, and I wanted her to have something cozy to sleep in, instead of sleeping on the air mattress with me and her daddy. She absolutely loves it. She is mezmorized by the twinkling stars, it's such a cool feature. The vibration soothes her right to sleep, and the classical sound of the music it plays is very easy to listen to. Not annoying like the usual songs played by these type of things. If your child is going to sleep in it, it may need a little padding... But instead of buying a bassinet pad to put down in it, I had an extra foam egg crate for my bed, that I cut a little peice of to fit it, she absolutely loves it. It's a cheap and quick fix! I'd give this bassinet 10 stars if I could, It's the best!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very practical! Saves space!, August 4, 2003

I originally wanted this bassinet instead of buying a full-size one. (We have a small bedroom.) I didn't like it for that use because I didn't like my newborn practically sleeping on the floor. So it stayed stored away for a couple of months and I borrowed a full-size bassinet from a friend. When my son got older (2-3 months) he really started to notice the stars and lights. Now I use it when I need to keep him occupied so I can shower. It's great because it folds up and is out of the way when not in use. I also used it for naps when my son outgrew the bassinet in our pack n play.

4.0 out of 5 stars helped our newborn who was songested, March 4, 2003

We originally purchased this item to take with us on trips to relatives's houses. We also remembered how our 1st child had a hard time adjusting to the size of her cradle. She alsmost felt unsecure in it and spent many days in her car seat or bouncy. Our second child needed this since he was congested and it helped keep him elevated and comfortable. It was our source of sleep and his source of comfort for nights when he couldn't breathe properly. It's a great must have!!! Vibration helps soothe babies as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent portable bassinet, March 3, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Fisher Price Classical Chorus Starlight Bassinet
This is an excellent portable bassinet. It is a must have for parents on the go. It is very easy to open and close. My two month old daughter just loves sitting in it. However, there are two downsides to this item: 1) it does not come with a carrying case, and 2) the baby cannot see the stars twinkling in a well lit room.

Just seems like a lot of money for the little use we got out of it. There is very little padding and I didnt feel comfortable adding extra padding due to S.I.D.S. I would recommend purchasing a pack n play with a full size bassinet that snaps on the top. You will get much more use for your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it!, April 12, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Fisher Price Classical Chorus Starlight Bassinet
I needed a portable bassinet to take my baby to his dads and so I bought this one. I got him used to sleeping in it and now he loves it. My baby had the same happy look on his face as the baby in the ad when he was looking at the stars. I use the lights and sounds to entertain him during the day and he sleeps in at night. IT IS ACTUALLY LIGHTWEIGHT AND PORTABLE!! I was surprised how easy it was to carry. It fits perfectly in my Ricardo Beverly hills del mar 30 inch upright so I can take it on vacation also.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST BABY ITEM YOU COULD BUY, September 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Fisher Price Classical Chorus Starlight Bassinet
I HAD THIS SAME BASSINET FOR MY FIVE YEAR OLD SON, AND USED IT FOR MY FOUR YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AS WELL. IT WAS OVER ALL THE BEST BABY PRODUCT I COULD HAVE SPENT MY MONEY ON. THIS TIME AROUND IT WAS THE FIRST ITEM ON MY REGISTURY. BOTH OF MY CHILDREN SLEPT IN THIS THE FIRST FEW MONTHS WHEN THEY WHERE GETTING USED TO BEING OUT ON THEIR OWN. IT ALSO FOLDS UP AND STORES AWAY IN A CASE TO TAKE ALONG WITH ON OUR MANY TRIPS TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS HOUSES WHEN YOU CAN'T EXPECT THE BABY TO SLEEP IN THEIR CAR SEET ALL THE TIME. WHEN THEY GOT OLDER IT WAS GREAT TO USE INSTEAD OF A BOUNCER IN THE SITTING UP POSITION. THIS IS OVER ALL THE BEST PRODUCT OUT THERE, AND NOW THE NEW ONE HAS LIGHTS AND MUSIC TOO. WOW I'M BLOWN AWAY!!!!
