The picture for this item is very deceiving. The boy on the box can't be older than two because the vest looks huge on him and in fact, it is very short. I ordered it for my four-year-old son and it stops just below his waist, which looks a little silly with his t-shirt coming down to his hips. Also, on the box the blue near the collar appears to be the aqua color that Diego wears but in reality it is a light/medium blue. The vest seems to be made of a very thin micro nylon fabric that is so flimsy it doesn't even close in the front and just hangs open. There are two velcro straps on each side of the vest that hold the front and back of the vest together. Our box arrived with a big dent in the side and the binoculars were smashed. This being said, I know Amazon will replace the binoculars and we'll begrudgingly keep it, as my son really wants to be Diego for Halloween.

My son loves Diego. He was Diego for Halloween. When we received it through Amazon, I was suprised at how poor the vest was constructed and the cheap materials used. AND it barely fit my son who is tall for his age but not even two. So just FYI, if you still decide to purchase this item, know it runs very small. The toys that came with it were fun for my son and he plays with those but not so much the vest.

This set was fun for my nephews. They seemed to really enjoy pretending to be Diego. I was greatly disappointed in the vest. It really is a piece of junk. It can't be washed without falling apart. The material is thin and the workmanship is terrible. All the other accessories were great and the kids liked it. Just disappointed as an adult in the value.

First off, yes, the vest runs small. Second, because it is the thinnest, cheapest nylon, with velcro on the sides (adjustable that way, I guess), it easily gets twisted and all the velcro is caught up with itself, and my son (4) needs help straightening it out. It is VERY difficult for a child to clip the tools on to the little loops, as well, so the vest has been tossed aside. The "canteen"? A TOTAL waste- it is a round piece of plastic. It doesn't open, so you can't even pack a bit of water for them. That got tossed aside. The cell-phone looking thing works alright- he plays with it occasionally, but the phrase repertoire is limited, so in retrospect, I bought this junk for the binoculars, which are cute, and easy to look through because it's actually one wide opening, and my son likes those, so if you want to pay for those, then have at it.

I got this for my almost 4-year-old son to wear for Halloween. It worked great for his costume, but he also likes it as a toy. He had fun pretending to be Diego, and cliping all of the accessories onto the vest. He especially liked the talking phone. The vest is very lightweight and doesn't have a way to close it in the front, but if you keep in mind that it is a toy, not an article of clothing, I think you will be happy with it.

This is cheap junk and isn't worth more than $15. The vest is made out of material similar to a disposable tablecloth or something. The communicator came with dead batteries that cost $15 dollars to replace. I had to rush order the Nickelodeon 3-piece outfit in time for Halloween--that outfit cost $25 dollars and all 3 pieces are decent quality kid's clothing that they can wear anytime.

My wife picked this up for about $58. The vest is made out of the flimsiest, cheapest material ever. Since it has "Diego" on it, I expect that I'm going to get charged more than the item is worth, but this is really outrageous. For the price, they ought to at least make some kind of an effort. How about making it out of canvas or something? This vest is on par with those cheap halloween costumes you can pick up at the last minute at the drugstore. The accessories it comes with are equally cheap. If I'd paid 1/5 the price, I'd still feel like I paid too much, but I'd say to myself, "its a throwaway item, what the hell."

I thought this would be a nice combination of gadgets for my little Diego fan. Unfortunately, the electronic communicator was DOA, even with a battery change. Seems like the communicator is the highlight of the ensemble. The seller's page doesn't address the issue of DOA items. So I sent the seller a message, expecting they would just send me another in keeping with the high standards for customer service I've come to expect from Amazon resellers. Five days after I sent the message I received the following reply from Javier at ToyWiz: "I would advise you to contact the manufacturer and see what they can do because this is a manufacturer issue. We do not make the toys we just distribute them. If it was not broken through shipping or packing, unfortunately we can't accept the return once the item has been opened." A bit inconvenient, so please keep this in mind when dealing with ToyWiz compared to other Amazon retailers with a more customer-friendly approach. For what it's worth, this product sells at a premium price, perhaps three or four times what you would see similar items for selling elswhere. I gladly paid the price though, thinking that it was a collector's package that would be ideal as a gift. I just wish that it all worked. In retrospect, the little tike seems to have more fun with the Diego "Go Dinosaur Transport", I also picked up from Amazon via a different reseller. As an aside, the collection is packaged with the usual retail gimmick of "try me" on the communicator, so I guess it would have been possible for ToyWiz to test the communicator before it was shipped. Yeah, it's a stretch, but it was possible to test the thing before shipment without disturbing the packaging.

I don't think they still sell this in stores anymore and the price on Amazon is so ridiculous, I would NEVER pay that much! The quality of the vest is so cheap, it's ridiculous! It's so thin, I could literally tear it very easily with my bare hands with little or no effort. It does no close, so just hangs open. The vest is something I would expect to find at the Dollar Tree, where everything is a dollar! It also runs small, as many other posters mentioned. I too believe the age range for this vest to be two years old. My son received this for his fourth birthday and it is way too small- comes to above his waist and looks silly. At the most, I would say it would fit 2-3 years old. My son is in the 50th percentile for height and on the thin side for his age, so I would say it definately would not fit the average 4 year old unless they are really tiny. I think a mom would be better off making one herself and it would be much better quality. That being said, my son loves Diego, so he still loved it and he does wear it, looking silly or not. lol. The saving grace for this toy is the gadgets. My son loves playing with the gadgets in combination with other Diego gadgets he already owns. It comes with a canteen (does not open, for pretend play only), binoculars, and a talking radio. The radio is supposed to say different rescue phrases, but ours just says help over and over- there is only one button to push. I personally think the gadgets are pretty boring in comparison to other gadget toys out there. Also, the gadgets are supposed to hang or fit in pockets on the vest, but the vest is so cheap and lightweight, they don't stay on and constantly fall off. However, my son loves to wear the vest with the gadgets when he watches Diego. I got mine used on e-bay for $17 and there is no way I would pay a penny more for it. I will say it was worth the used price I paid for it, since he does play with it and loves Diego. If you can find it used and you have a child that loves Diego, get it. It's worth it for pretend play, keeping in mind it's not very durable and doesn't do a lot. However, if your only option is new price, I would pass. This toy overall is definately NOT worth the current listed price on amazon!

The toys were not that great the bottle didn't open, the walkie talkie doesn't have any buttons and the binoculars were a bit small the vest was cheaply made too. My kids didn't play with it much.
