4.0 out of 5 stars My 2y is Obsessed with Dora - this works
Her hair gets crazy after a few weeks, but all in all it's a good doll. My daughter sleeps with her every night. And loves her

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute, But Rather Irritating
I knew there was going to be some sort of battery in it, as Dora talks. I love the song she sings, and it sounds a lot like her. The doll is adorable in itself...however, my problem with this doll lies in the weight, hardness of her head, and her hair.

This Dora is well- loved ONLY because it's... well.. Dora. After about 6 weeks, she started to develop dread locks.... nasty, nappy gross dread locks. My 3 year old is obsessed with Dora, so there was no way she was letting this one go. The hair was so disgusting as the weeks and months went by, that I finally just took scissors to her hair and chopped it all off! She looks nothing like Dora now... but still brings comfort to my daughter. She washes up just fine--- I removed the electronic device out of her back and threw her in the washing machine and she came out sparkly clean. But it's time for a new Dora... and it's only been 10 months since we bought this piece of junk made in China. Don't waste your money on this one. Oh, and her eyes rubbed off after about 2 months--so it's SCARY Dread lock Dora. Looks like Chuck Dora from that movie. Nasty.

I knew there was going to be some sort of battery in it, as Dora talks. I love the song she sings, and it sounds a lot like her. The doll is adorable in itself...however, my problem with this doll lies in the weight, hardness of her head, and her hair.

The hair becomes a tangled mess and I have to yank on it to get her hair straight- she loses hair because of it... the head is heavy and hard, so not comfortable to sleep with, and the doll itself is pretty heavy. When the back is opened it revealed a HUGE battery/voice box. I wish it could have come with a smaller box or the doll itself could have been lighter, and that the head was softer.

All in all it's cute and fun and a great toy. Just not ideal for sleeping, which was what I bought it hoping for (it is sleepy dreams Dora, so I thought it'd be a good motivational sleeping buddy)

I sent this to my 2 yr old granddaughter and she loves it. She combs her hair and carries her around. The only thing that she doesn't seem to understand is that when Dora is laying flat, her eyes close. My granddaughter is always trying to open the dolls eyes.

My four year old daughter received this for Christmas. Dora as a rule bugs me, but at least it doesn't yammer on endlessly. It sings a little snippet of song and says let's close our eyes and rest for another adventure.

When I opened up the box, I was surprised at how much this doll looks and sounds like Dora. My 3 year old daughter loves Dora and I know she will love this doll. I didn't see a problem with her hair. She is a very nice size as well ! Enjoy !!

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall Good Doll, February 13, 2011

I purchased this Dora doll for my three year old, she absolutely loves it. Some of the reviews are pretty harsh (and surprising). So far, the electronic singing box works fine. I looked at how the head was attached, because the thought of the head becoming detached alarmed me, but the head seems secure to me (maybe some children are just harder on toys than others, or she happened to purchase a defective toy?). My three year old loves reading books to this doll and brushing her pony tails and bangs. I keep Dora's hair in the original pony tail style, so I cannot imagine the hair getting too tangled. As far as the eyes rubbing off, that one suprised me too, this doll has held up great for my daughter, but she is not overly fascinated with the eyes (some kids are, maybe that is why the paint rubbed off?). Overall, I would purchase this doll again for my daughter in a heart beat. I do wish they would make the dolls with "softer" heads, because it is a rather hard plastic. As far as this being educational, it is not what I'd call an "educational toy" so I just rated it one star in that category. This is by far my daughter's most favorite doll. My one complaint is that the slippers weren't fuzzy like the photos depict, but my daughter could care less!

This doll was the best purchase I have ever made. It was a big hit with my granddaughter. She loves it. She takes it to bed with her every night and has no reservations about going to bed now. Dora is a wonderful companion and I would highly suggest that anyone with a little doll lover to purchase "Sleepy Dreams"

2.0 out of 5 stars head pops off, January 3, 2010

My nearly-3 yr old got this doll for Christmas and loves it, but after just two days, the head popped off! The head is only held onto the dress with a zip tie. The zip tie broke, so the head kept coming off. We replaced the zip tie, so we'll see how it works, but generally disappointed in the durability. The battery pack is always falling out too. Plus, the sounds she makes are sporadic... I don't think they work properly.

This was the second order for a "Sleepy Dreams Dora" doll and, like the previous doll, the voice and singing either worked sporadically or did not work at all. Being an avid Dora the Explorer fan, I was looking forward to seeing my grandaughter's face on Christmas Day; but instead had to return it. Amazon's return policy was easy and efficent and the refund to my credit card was very prompt. Disappointing but conclusion was satisfactory.
