5.0 out of 5 stars Dora Mermaid
My four year old daughter loves the Dora Mermaid toy and thinks it is great. She plays with it both in and out of the tub and especially likes the flippers in action and the way the water temperature changes how the mermaid looks. A great gift.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hair tangles after first bathe
I purchased this toy for my daughter several months ago (when my daughter was 2, now 3) and at first it was a big hit. She loved it but the biggest problem is that the hair gets tangled and is extremely next to impossible to get it back straight. She's not into combing hair yet, but tries to mimic me when I play with her at bath time. For a toy that is meant for bath...

We bought this for my 3 year-old for Xmas and she LOVES it! Ours only came with a comb, however, not the brush and other item shown in the picture. That's why I gave it 4 stars. I hate false advertising. BUT, my duaghter really wanted a mermaid and I didn't want to buy a 3 year-old a skinny Barbie marmaid with a large chest! This Dora mermaid is adorable and she is shaped like a girl, not an overdeveloped adult! It's a good size doll and the hair is wonderful. My daughter loves combing it. At $15 I think she was a good deal!

We received this toy as a birthday gift. My 4 year old and 2 year old have now used it for two years. We had to *just* throw it away (mildew buildup in her mermaid tail), and my younger girl (now 4 years old) was so very sad to see Dora in the trash. So, we're ordering one more! This is a great bath toy, and I marked 2 stars for educational value (they like to just basically brush her hair and wash it?), and durability. It really, though, had a pretty good lifespan for a bath toy. Many of ours are pitched in under 1 year for mildew growth! This is a great gift for anyone.

For a toy that is meant for bath time, they need to make the hair more durable because once wet the toy looks horrible because of the tangling of the hair. I have tried detangled conditioners and the sort but nothing worked. All in all, my daughter has lost interest in the toy. I purchased splash around Dora and twins for the replacement and she loves it and it has been better since there isn't any hair to get tangled when wet. The necklace once twist will make the fins move, I think in the earlier days of this toy, Dora actually moved a few centimeters once the necklace was twisted but after a while it only moves the fins up and down but the toy itself does not move.

Your Dora fan will love this at first especially toddlers not into combing hair, but if you on the OCD side (as myself) you will be disappointed with the hair texture once wet. I recommend going for Splash Around Dora & Twins or Boots instead.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute doll but it doesn't swim well, January 18, 2012

This is a cute mermaid doll, and as others mentioned it's not a busty Barbie. That being said, the big drawback is the necklace which you wind to make Dora swim. The turning mechanism is really hard for young kids to do and I have to wind her about 50 times per bath. She swims rather sluggishly once wound up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Daughter LOVES Dora! Wish it would do more!, December 30, 2011

My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves Dora so we thought we would get this for her for Christmas. She seems to really like it. It seems really durable and quite well made. It sure makes her want to take a bath all the time! I just wish she (Dora) would swim when you wind up her tail, she kind of loses "steam" when she gets in the water and barely moves. But overall my daughter loves her and that is what is important!

My two-year old got this for her birthday a few months ago. She loved it but it was lost/stollen at the pool. She's been begging for another one so we got her this for Christmas. She loves it. You just wind up the shell on her front and she wiggles around.
