5.0 out of 5 stars Kids love to play with it
My 2 yo daughter received this as a present and just loves it. She sat for a long time doing Dora's hair and her own. Her twin brother likes it almost as much as she does. As we are working on getting them into more independent play, this toy does just the trick.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tangled Mess??
I agree this toy is great from the size, to the accessories, and even Dora's head... My problem is that the hair is a MESS! Am I the only one seeing this? My 5 y/o got this for Xmas and as of now (May) she barely plays with Dora b/c you cannot do anything with her hair. I've read on-line how to fix the hair but it's not working (detangle shampoo, Downy, wig brush only...

I'm contacting FP on Monday to see if I can get a new head for her.... Any other suggestions??

2.0 out of 5 stars What a waste of money..., December 4, 2010

I got this for my daugher for her 5th birthday and she LOVED playing with it-as did her 2-year-old little sister. The problem is that once the hair gets tangled up, there is really no coming back from that. The hair on it is so "plastic-y" and cheap, that when I try to detangle it, it just stretches and breaks! I tried to order a replacement Dora head from Fisher Price, but they only sell replacement kits for the accessory pack (blow dryer, curling iron, barrettes, etc)-but no head. Alas, it sits in her room and does not get played with at all-will probably give it away to Goodwill or something to make room for something new this year. What a waste of money :/

4.0 out of 5 stars Dora Dora EVERYWHERE!, February 26, 2008

Well, I have seen it all this year-My 6 year old (who I was hoping was getting OLD enough to fall out of love with this star) asked Santa for the Vanity for Christmas-Thank you Amazon for a great pre-christmas price of $49.95 and free shipping!

It assembled easier than any Dora toy (and I have it all from Kitchen to dollhouses) I have gotten and was age appropriate (seems Fisher Price is also aware original Dora fans from circa 2002-04 era are "growing older") as she instantly styled and did her makeup-playing little with the cards for "adventures" but more with the jewelry and gadgets for making Dora "Beautiful" I liked what I saw-she played with it and shut off the sound! (Yes, of course, she says everything you do and touch in English and Spanish in her irritating Dora Voice) It's about the right height for a 4-5 year old though, not a 6-7 year old as the box states. But my girl is happy to sit on the stool and play for long periods of time 2 monthes after Christmas!

I noted the cost now, and I believe this is more a $[...] toy at best. Keep waiting, they'll go down again!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Vanity Overall, February 2, 2008

My 2.5 year old daughter got this for Christmas, and it was a hit. She played with it for 2 hours straight. The novelty has certainly worn off, but she still uses it about 3-4 times a week.

I thought that the sound was a little too loud, but it's not terribly anoying. The toys/tools are pretty well constructed, we haven't had any break yet. The mirror is also really good; it's not a sticker. I would buy it again if I had to.

I love that it keeps her busy.

This toy gets children to use their creative imagination. They learn how to comb hair and style. Learning how to put combs and brushes away. My 2 year old grand daughter sits in front of the mirror and pretends shes getting ready to go the store. She acting like a big girl and using her imagination (which few toys do)

2.0 out of 5 stars The Hair is poor quality..., December 5, 2010
= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fisher-Price Dora's Let's Get Ready Vanity (Toy)
I purchased this for my daughter because she loves Dora and likes to play dressup. It's a fun toy, but the hair on Dora is poor quality. It has become so matted, it cannot be combed, basiclly adding less value to the toy. There isn't an easy way to remove the doll head from the vanity set. It's really not worth the price.

This was actually a replacement for one that we had that got damaged. The first was given to us by friends that had twin girls and they used it for 5 years before passing it on! Dora's hair was an frizzed out mess by the time we got our turn with it but my girls didn't really care, they played with it everyday. When in the position to have to find a replacement I was crossing my fingers that I could find one again because I knew they were'nt being made anymore. I came right to amazon and there were some extreme price differences. Originally in 2002 this set sold new for 89.00 and the prices I was finding online were 140-250!! I bought from a reliable seller on amazon with the lowest price and I am SO glad. It shipped quickly and it snaps together in minuutes. The instruction booklet does warn you that once the pieces snap in you can not take them apart without damaging them so be aware of that. It also doesn't come in the colors that are shown on the box...between the accessories that we were able to carry over from the first set we have tools and brushes and hairbows and barrettes in a mixed bag of fun colors. and also have two seats and 2 of every tool too so the girls don't have to fight over stuff. I would suggest if you are buying this set to purchase an accessory pack for $15 usually found on amazon or ebay so that you can have duplicate tools too for siblings or friends. WE LOVE OUR DORA TABLE!

I got this for my 2 year old daughter. She loves it. It is plastic so not sure it would handle hard use. As you remove the items to use them, the vanity talks. It also has cards you slide in and out and it talks of getting ready for one of the characters party. My 2 year old can put the cards in and out. My daughter has pulled the drawer out, but it just slides back in. We like it a lot.
