Well, as you can tell by the One Star review, I'm not impressed with this carrier. It looks like it should be more comfortable than the classic bjorn, because of the waist belt, but it really doesn't distribute the weight of the baby well enough. To get better support, you need a padded hip belt, like the Ergo (the Ergo's belt is a bit much, but there are others, like...

I've been playing with this carrier for about a month now, and I have to say - I'm impressed. I have to confess that my mother is acquainted with the guy who designed this product for Fisher Price, so I had heard about this item and was eager to try it. I have a four month old baby boy. We were given a Baby Bjorn as a shower gift, and I used that for comparison. I also use a New Native baby sling.

First off - it's much easier to put the baby in than the Baby Bjorn. The entire piece that the baby sits in snaps off and is easy to put the baby in - you lay him on it like a diaper and zip up the sides. It's designed so the parent puts their harness on first. You then pick up the baby and snap his harness on to yours. Soooo easy, and much less hassle for the baby. The connection is very secure - it's a five-point system. It takes a bit of practice to master getting the baby out - I prefer to sit down to unhook the harness. It is also just as easy to unzip it and pop the baby out over the top.

The baby can be worn forward or backward. Requires no major adjustment to accomplish this. Good for up to 25 lbs, and a cinch to adjust for length.

The adult harness seems to distribute the baby's weight more evenly across my hips than other carriers and slings. I have more stamina with this carrier than my sling, which my baby loves but I find quite cumbersome.

One feature I love - it has a toy ring attached so you link a toy on it - fantastic so your baby's favorite item doesn't end up in the dirt.

The fabric is ultra-soft and cushiony, like thick foam covered with microfiber. This is especially true around the baby's legs. In fact this item is ideal for people whose babies have chubby thighs - the leg openings are nice and big, with no pinching - yet the baby is still secure. I find that our Baby Bjorn is a bit tight around his legs. Despite the padding, this product has great airflow for the baby and adult, too - we live in Florida. Drool and spit-up seem to just wipe right off the fabric. The shoulder straps are nicely padded. One thing I would mention - the fabric on the inside of the shoulder pads is like a cooling mesh, and can be a bit tough when worn on bare skin (when wearing a tank top etc). I solved this problem by wrapping a bit of soft fabric around the straps where they sat against my neck. It would be nice it this came with something to solve this problem, like adult sized versions of the strap covers on a car seat. But wearing it with a T-shirt should not be a problem.

I have to say - I have comandeered this product for my exclusive use - my hubby wears the Baby Bjorn now!

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect solution!, June 11, 2008
This review is from: Fisher-Price Easy-on Infant Carrier - Black (Baby Product)
This carrier is so easy to use! I was looking for an easier carrier than what's out there, and this is it. I love the fact that the baby gets put on you separately. It makes life so much simpler, especially if baby falls asleep in the carrier. It's very plush and looks comfy!

At first, it is hard to put on, but when you get used to it you'll find it very useful..Fabrics and other material are very good and comfortable for the baby..And you don't need take off the whole thing, you just release your baby..

5.0 out of 5 stars Great carrier, August 1, 2010
This review is from: Fisher-Price Easy-on Infant Carrier - Black (Baby Product)
I love this carrier. So does my husband. It is his preferred carrier. It's great to just zip baby in and slide her on the piece you wear. Some of the other reviewers have mentioned it's great when baby is sleeping -- very true! Especially if you have a child who goes ballistic when awakened from a deep sleep! Ours seems to go to sleep the minute she's put in the carrier.

It's super easy to use. The "diaper" piece is easy, although we did have a time on occasion getting the zippers in when the baby was squirmy. Having the teeth a different color would help. And it's very simple to slide her onto the contraption you slide over your torso. Everything clicks in place.

The only negative I could point out is the heat -- when it was really warm, she and I both were drenched as she was right against me. You'll have that problem with any carrier, however. Oh, and the long strap in the back always ended up riding up, making us look like humpback camels from the side. :-) As long as you fix it before you head out, though, it's fine. Forget to pull it down, and you look pretty silly. As for being a back-breaker, well, no carrier is comfortable after several hours, but I have to say, of all the carriers I own (and I own 5 now), this is the one I can wear the longest.

The fisher Price Carrier is a must when you have a newborn. We purchased some other carriers and slings that weren't as good as this one. It is easy to put on and pull out, and very comfy for the child.
it doesn't hurt your back.
It's great!

This is so easy to use. I can use this with out my husbands help. Haven't used this for any long periods of time. I am trying to get my son use to being in it. Being able to attatch a toy is wonderful. It adjusts very easy to different size babys.

5.0 out of 5 stars so far so good, July 28, 2008

I did quite a while of research on the web checking out different alternatives to carry out our 8 month old daughter (she is a 7.7 kg adorable girl already!!). The price and brand stroke me when I saw it through Amazon. Just had an opportunity to use it during some short vacations at the coast and have to say the carrier worked very good. I did some walking with my daughter and got no back or shoulder pain. The product is well designed and cared for details. I am planning to take it with me this coming February to Europe. By then my daughter will be close to the weight limit recommended for this carrier so that will be utimate test for it. Will write the second part of this review after then. So far, and considering the price, I recommnend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Carrier!, July 18, 2011

Good carrier, easy to put on because of the seperate harness, comfortable, only felt that the seating area is a little small, though it could be because i havent figured out how to widen it, the shoulder straps could also be slightly more comfortable. overall happy with my purchase, baby is happy in it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good for newborns, January 5, 2011

We have this carrier and I absolutely love it!! Easy on, easy off. I love the fact that it is a parent piece and a baby piece and then you put the 2 together. Baby piece fastens on in FIVE places and is completley secure. He seemed really comfortable and loved being so close. I am 5'4" kinda chubby and my husband is 6'4" and kinda thin and it adjusts to fit us both, which is really cool.

My son was born over 9 pounds and this carrier was fantastic for a couple of months, but he quickly got heavy enough so the carrier didn't distribute enough of his weight to my hips. Although this did start to hurt my back a little, it wasn't enough to make me stop using it. I got a lot of use out of it until my son as about 6 months old, and I will use it for my next children too.

Well, as you can tell by the One Star review, I'm not impressed with this carrier. It looks like it should be more comfortable than the classic bjorn, because of the waist belt, but it really doesn't distribute the weight of the baby well enough. To get better support, you need a padded hip belt, like the Ergo (the Ergo's belt is a bit much, but there are others, like the Beco). Then there is the whole issue of "crotch dangleing". The baby is not supported in a seated position, but allowed to dangle by their diaper. This could not possibly be comfortable! Fisher-Price should stick to making toddler toys, but not baby carriers.
