4.0 out of 5 stars Great activity gym for the money!
After trying the Little Tikes 5 in 1 gym and being very disappointed, I decided to try this new gym by Fisher Price. My almost 4 month old daughter really likes it! The "soothing" mode is great because it will play music and sounds for about 10 minutes. My daughter smiles at Elmo and the lights. I'm not sure why these types of toys don't come with volume control, but...

1.0 out of 5 stars Dangerous: Needs to be recalled!
My 8 month old son absolutely adores this toy, but he turned over to crawl away with the arch down and it caught his foot between it and the little bit of a base that it has. His foot had to be pushed to the side and then removed. His similar Aquarium of Wonders toy has s large enough space to prevent this. He also pulls up to stand and as this toy has no platform it...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great activity gym for the money!, August 26, 2005
This review is from: Fisher-Price: Elmo's Musical Sing and Teach Gym (Toy)
After trying the Little Tikes 5 in 1 gym and being very disappointed, I decided to try this new gym by Fisher Price. My almost 4 month old daughter really likes it! The "soothing" mode is great because it will play music and sounds for about 10 minutes. My daughter smiles at Elmo and the lights. I'm not sure why these types of toys don't come with volume control, but this one doesn't seem to be too loud for a small baby.

I gave it 4 stars because the hanging toys could be much improved. They don't rattle when baby bats at them, and it's not easy for baby to activate the music and sounds by playing with them. They really need to pulled/pushed a certain way to get them to work. (I also wish it had a foot pad for my daughter to kick to get the music going, but I knew when I bought it that it didn't have this feature so that's not a reason for the 4 star rating.) Overall construction quality seems good (we've only had it for 2 days, though!).

I also like the fact that it has lots of buttons to push for when baby gets older and can sit in front of the gym and play. All in all, I'm happy with this gym and would recommend it to others!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun, February 14, 2006

My five-month-old has been enjoying this toy for two months now. It's lots of fun. She can reach the toys easily and it makes her smile, laugh and kick. The only drawback is that it is LOUD, so loud that the music almost sounds distorted. It would be perfect if it just had a volume control.

4.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this....., November 18, 2005

It's a shame to see such negative reviews for this item because my son loves it. I got it for him when he was 4 mos old and the lay down mode worked perfectly for him. Now at 5 1/2 months old he is sitting up and he loves it even more. He stays entertained with this toy than any other one that I have. I'm sure you all realize when you use the sit up mode, you need to take the hanging parts off that you would use if using the lying down mode. We made that mistake, keeping them on and then the seating up mode did not work, but once you take the hanging pieced off, they work fine. We really enjoy this toy.

My 8 month old son absolutely adores this toy, but he turned over to crawl away with the arch down and it caught his foot between it and the little bit of a base that it has. His foot had to be pushed to the side and then removed. His similar Aquarium of Wonders toy has s large enough space to prevent this. He also pulls up to stand and as this toy has no platform it has started to topple over under his 18 pounds (his Aquarium. . .has a platform and we have had no problems and we have caught him and the toy and prevented an actual fall). We have taken the toy from him and we are going to try to take it back to Toys R Us.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good at first....but poor quality product, July 10, 2006
This review is from: Fisher-Price: Elmo's Musical Sing and Teach Gym (Toy)
This is good because it does catch baby's attention with bright colors and music. The infant setting, gives you a long music setting. The music is a bit loud, I put cotton taped over the holes.

Not so good..when the batteries get low, you need to change them right away, it makes this horrible, scary sound, rather than cheerful music.

I have had my gym for about 4 months now, and when I press the buttons on the toddler setting, nothing happens. Music is sapposed to play when you touch/pull the buttons and hanging toys.

The batteries aren't low, but elmo is moving back and forth very slow, with no music, so basiclly I can't use it, after 4 months.

But the 4 months it was used, it was nice. I would reccomend something else.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it!!! Elmo scares my son..., June 18, 2006
This review is from: Fisher-Price: Elmo's Musical Sing and Teach Gym (Toy)
First, it's too loud. It needs to have a volume control adjustment. And second, when Elmo plays peek-a-boo it makes my son cry because it scares him. So I don't think this product is for infants.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this item!, June 3, 2006
This review is from: Fisher-Price: Elmo's Musical Sing and Teach Gym (Toy)
I got this for my son for christmas and he loves it. There are only 2 things about this item I dont like. It uses batteries really quick and the volume of it is very loud. Other then that I really like it. My daughter is 2 and she sometimes plays with it too (with my son). It gives me a little bit of time to get some stuff around the house done while he is being busy with the gym. I would reccomend this to anyone. Great Item!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars too loud for little ears, March 10, 2006
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

I just recently bought this for my 6 month old daughter. She really enjoys it. She especially likes to pull on the blue & yellow circle disks which activate the music. However, the music is way too loud, even for me. I had to tape a piece of folded tissue over the speaker. This product really should have come with a volume control button.

We bought this for our 4.5 month old and she loves it! She kicks and talks to it. It is great stimulation and a great work out.

I sent this item back once already and now it is starting to seem like it is defective again. When the song plays it sometimes gets stuck on one note and I have to turn it off and then back on again. I changed the batteries a million times and it's still doing it. My son loves it, but it always sounds like the batteries are dying and sometimes Elmo gets stuck below and I have to turn it off and back on again. Not worth the $$ in my opinion.
