My son choked on a part of this toy! NOT SAFE!!!, January 14, 2010
This review is from: Fisher-Price Elmo's Peek and Seek (Toy)
I am purposely using my real name because I want to be clear that this is a real incident which happened. We called an ambulance for our 20 month old on 1/11/10, and I don't want it to happen to anyone else. My son has an Elmo Peek and See See n Say toy. We bought it for Christmas, 2009, so it's less than a month old. It is recommended for his age. That morning, he put the round piece in his mouth and it stuck. I couldn't get it out. I called an ambulance and they couldn't get it out. Thankfully the piece had holes in it and he could draw a breath. However, my fear was that he would vomit, and he would no longer be able to breathe. The holes we also quickly clogging up as my child was hysterical and panicked. On the way to the hospital, in the ambulance, we were finally able to get it out. Later that night, I checked the size of all the shape pieces by putting them through a toilet paper roll (which I've been told is a way to measure if something is a choking hazard#. ALL of the pieces, except the star, fit through easily. I have reported it to Fisher Price #who offered a refund and basically told me that my son "most likely wouldn't have choked"). I just got done writing up a report to the Consumer's Product Safety Commision. We were very very lucky. This toy is NOT safe at all!

My son recv'd this for his 1st birthday and I saw him fit an entire piece (the circle) into his mouth. I took all of the pieces away and he finally got them back at 19 months. This toy is an absolute suffocation hazard. Yes, there are little holes cut out to help prevent that, but i dunno how much air is going to get through those. Now that my son is older and allowed to play with this toy again, it has helped him a lot. he can put all of the shapes where they go and he loves hearing Elmo's voice. He even plays games with himself. He will pick up the triangle (for example) and pretend to put it in the square hole and say "no no no!". At 22 months, this is now an appropriate toy.

The packaging was whatever, totally taped together and broken, the item itself, was ridiculous!!! I was charged $23 plus, and the item came scratched, used, and damaged!! and it has a reduced price label on it marking it down to $12, so why did I pay $11 more for it?!?!?! SO DISAPPOINTED!!! I thought amazon.com stood behind the products they sold!!!
