5.0 out of 5 stars Great to take with you

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy It For The Lights!
I have returned 2 now for the light going out in the third position after only a month's use. I called Fisher Price to find out if I can change the bulb, and you can't! I then complained to them that for $65+ it would be nice if all 4 lights stayed on after a month's time. I am going to be looking for a different swing which is sad because my son has loved using this...

This was great to take to other peoples' homes. My son was born in August, so we had family get togethers for two birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas and this was perfect to take along. My son was too young to entertain himself in a Pack 'n Play and could not join us at the dinner table, so we put him in this swing and he could watch us at the table. The swinging and the music kept him calm and he enjoyed grabbing the two hanging toys and the fish on his belt. Like most Fisher-Price toys, you can set the music (or sounds) to play constantly or when your baby pulls on the toys. There are also several swing settings - you increase the increment as your baby gets heavier so she or he will still be able to swing. At 22 pounds, my son still easily swings.

Now that my son is eating solids, I sit him in the swing to eat at other homes. Since I don't have a portable booster seat, this works fine. The pad washes and dries really well. I use cold water and the delicate setting and it hasn't faded or shrunk at all. The swing uses batteries and they last a long time.

This swing doesn't collapse easily for travel. Even when folded, it is a bit bulky and awkward. I have a SUV with a third row of seats and I just leave the swing intact and put it back there.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Only Swing to Buy!, April 1, 2005
This review is from: Fisher-Price Aquarium Take-Along Swing (Baby Product)
This was a great swing! If I had it to do over again, it would be the only swing I would buy. We have a traditional, big swing. Then we bought this one to take with us when we are out and about. This swing is wonderful. It is small enough to take anywhere in the house easily. It sits on the kitchen table while we are eating dinner, on the counter when I am cooking, in the living room during the evening hours and in our bedroom when I am getting ready in the morning. The music isn't annoying, both of my babies have loved the lights and the hanging toys. In fact, the hanging toys were the first thing my daughter reached for and grabbed.

It's very sturdy- we've taken it on numerous day trips and family vacations. It has lasted for both of my kids so far- daughter, 14 mo. and son 3 mo. and will probably be around for the next one!

A great buy- I would highly recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Love the swing, but have one criticism ..., February 27, 2005

My 6 month old daughter has been using the previous version of this swing (almost the same except for the lack of a pivoting handle, and the colors are slightly different) since she was 2 months old. She loves it, and for the most part, so do I. It's fantastic for traveling between houses or visiting relatives/friends who don't have young children, and therefore don't have anything to keep a little one occupied, or a place for them to sit/sleep.

My problem with the swing is this ... previous versions of the Fisher Price Take Along swings had velcro straps to secure the seat in a closed position when you are in travel mode. With the new design, there aren't any straps, and you have to simply fold the seat shut and hope for the best. The legs stay folded just fine, but I can't tell you how many times the seat has popped open while I was walking or trying to get through a doorway or some other space that required navigation. I have had the seat open unexpectedly, trip me, catch on furniture (and other people) and knock things over. At this point, I am almost reluctant to take it anywhere unless I know I have another person to help me, because I can't carry the car seat and this swing at the same time ... which I should be able to do!! I would advise folks to get a piece of string or a long strip of velcro and improvise some means of securing the seat shut if you truly intend to use this seat for a lot of travel. I'm going to be making a trip to my local arts and crafts store in order to do just that as soon as possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Swing, June 14, 2005
This review is from: Fisher-Price Aquarium Take-Along Swing (Baby Product)
We got this swing to keep in our car for when we visit Nana's or other relatives. Our daughter loved this swing from day one. She loves the music and lights and the hanging toys. I think we have the older model, different fabric and ours has 10 swinging levels. We've had no problems with the swinging feature, at 2 months and just 11 lbs our daughter swings nicely at the level 2. It's not the easiest to fold and unfold, you definetly need 2 hands, but it's compact and easy to carry with the handle bar. We use a full size cradle swing in our home and this one stays in the mudroom either to take with us or to go on the deck for outside time. I would definetly recommend this swing for travel or occasional use or if you are really limited with space in your home.

My son, who just turned 4 months old, absolutely LOVES his swing. The only complaint I have with it is that it eats up batteries like mad! If you are on a tight budget this could be a problem. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the frequent battery usage.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very, Very Pleased Customer!, April 19, 2005

I just bought this swing for my two week old daughter and she and I absolutely love it! It was SO easy to assemble! I love the fact that I can easily carry it from room to room, and up and down the stairs. I wanted a swing that would make her very content and at the same time, one that wouldn't take up too much space. The aquarium design is adorable and I like the different options (music, no music, different swing speeds, volume control). I don't have any trouble putting her in or taking her out of the swing - there is plenty of room. This swing definitely gives my daughter the opportunity to sit upright a bit during the day instead of either lying on her back or me holding her while I work. I highly recommend this product to anyone - I am very picky when it comes to these types of purchases...and I will say that I am definitely one happy customer! :^)

4.0 out of 5 stars They grow out of it fast, March 6, 2005
This review is from: Fisher-Price Aquarium Take-Along Swing (Baby Product)
We enjoyed this swing when my daughter was little but as soon as she was able to sit up she had outgrown it. SHe tried to lean over the side and actually puts her hands on the floor. (She is tiny too and can do this 14lbs at 6mo)I think a bigger baby would out grow it even sooner. My friend loaned me a swing from 2003 that is the Swingomatic type by Evenflo. It is big and takes up space but if I had to do it again I would register for that swing. My daughter is 8 months and still is entertained with the chair and the toys on the tray.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Entertainer!, February 10, 2005

I have the previous version of this swing, it is almost exactly the same, the difference is in the color of the seat and the placement of the lights. My 2 month old loves this swing! He loves to stare at the lights as the change and the orange fish is his favorite. It is also a great soother - he falls asleep in it fairly easily. It has proven to be a life saver during some of those late nights. We also have the ocean wonders vibrating bouncer chair and he loves that as well. The Ocean Wonders series is just great!

It's a great swing except for that little problem. I just think for that kind of money, everything should work.
