5.0 out of 5 stars A High-Flying and Fun Toy
I recently purchased this toy for my son and he absolutely loves it. Powered by three "C" batteries, the plane spins around on an arm that is attached to the control tower. Three different sounds may be chosen from, including a helicopter and a jet plane. There is also a reset button on the tower that "wakes up" the toy if there is a lengthly period of inactivity...

As a standalone toy, the Coastal Winds Airport is alright. Its neat that the tower offers multiple vehicle sounds. Its also interesting that the 'flying arm' is modular and appears to be ready to support additional planes and helicopters beyond the original.

3.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelmed, August 11, 2005
This review is from: GeoTrax Coastal Winds Airport (Toy)
As a standalone toy, the Coastal Winds Airport is alright. Its neat that the tower offers multiple vehicle sounds. Its also interesting that the 'flying arm' is modular and appears to be ready to support additional planes and helicopters beyond the original.

The thing is, it doesn't really integrate with the rest of the Geotrax system. The road vehicles and the train vehicles can connect to one another and even drive on each other's tracks. The airport really doesn't have any way of connecting to the rest of the layout and just sort of 'sits next to' the rest of your Geotrax setup. So, as I said, its not a bad toy, it just doesn't have the WOW factor that many of the other Geotrax units do.

5.0 out of 5 stars A High-Flying and Fun Toy, September 1, 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: GeoTrax Coastal Winds Airport (Toy)
I recently purchased this toy for my son and he absolutely loves it. Powered by three "C" batteries, the plane spins around on an arm that is attached to the control tower. Three different sounds may be chosen from, including a helicopter and a jet plane. There is also a reset button on the tower that "wakes up" the toy if there is a lengthly period of inactivity.

Included with the toy are a train engine, railroad track, a wind sock, a crane, and two cargo boxes. The train or the airplane can carry the boxes. Also, additional planes can be purchased and used with the set.

The assembly is quick and easy, and the directions are easy to follow (something that we parents greatly appreciate!!). Once in place, the tower stays securely attached to the base, and the arm to the tower. The only tool required is a phillips screwdriver for the battery compartment.

A handle controls the airplane as it flys around, and the child can land the plane on the runway. The runway detaches from the base for easy storage.

I highly recommend this fun and educational toy. This has quickly become one of my son's (and daughter's) favorite toys, and they both get hours of enjoyment watching the plane fly and then landing it on the runway. Purchase this toy for your own little pilot and watch them learn the fun of flying an airplane!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great idea, January 13, 2005

Fisher price has a gold mine with the whole geotrax set! My boys will play for hours with this. They got the coastal winds airport for Christmas and have pretended to visit every imaginable place! I gave it a 5 for it's educational value because they want to learn about the places they could visit! We have just about every piece to this set and it will continue to grow as fisher price adds more. I just love it and I love the time we spend as a family configuring different tracks and manning the different trains. You just can't go wrong with any set.

5.0 out of 5 stars My three-year-old loves it!, October 31, 2005

My son received this for his birthday and I was the one that was disappointed at first. I thought, it does not connect in any way to the other geo-track pieces. Well, my son does not seem to mind. He loves this and even gets it out to play with it alone. When he sets up other geo-track pieces, he puts this right next to the track. Don't over look this set, the kids will love it!

Powered by three C-Cell batteries, this is a nice addition to a GeoTrax setup. Unlike other major additions, this one does not have a direct link to roads and tracks. Instead, there is a crane that can link the airport to your existing setup. The crane is used to move freight (2 included) from a vehicle, to the luggage track and back again.

The airport includes lots of sounds and can be used with different planes. A simple control allows the user to match the sound to the right flying vehicle. A easy-grip handle controls the ascent and descent of the plane as it circles around. Propellers will turn when attached to the control arm. If using the plane by itself, it has a easy-to-use control wheel for making the propellers move while not attached to the control arm (easy for either right or left hand). A piece of straight track and two end slopes are included with a red diesel engine/freighter.

All in all the set offers a lot to do and makes a fine addition to your set up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit from fisher-price, January 30, 2005

My son received the starter track for christmas and has played with it almost everyday since. Today we went out and bought the air & sea airport and it has been a little over an hour now and he is still completely entertained with it. He loves switching back and forth from working the train and the airport, running them at the same time etc... I have yet to find a toy that has kept him so occupied for so long. I highly recommend this toy. My son is 2 1/2 with an attention span of a gnat, and I have yet to find anything that entertains this well for this long. I fully plan on buying the add-on's for this toy. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought it to go with GeoTrax, but it gets played with much more, October 18, 2005

We love all of our GeoTrax, but this is the piece that gets played with the most! Sure, it doesn't really "go" with the train, but it a wonderful stand alone toy. Every child who comes through our doors from ages 1-5 scrambles to play with it. In fact, it is helping my 2 year old learn to share and take turns. We have bought the other airplane and the helicopter that go with it. My only, very minor, complaint is that one of the flags snapped off from the side of the tower. Not a big deal though.

This was purchased for a three-year-old but was immediately played with by older brother and sister too. It is the second geo-trak (after a train set) and will undoubtedly furnish many hours of enjoyment for all three. We hit the jackpot with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun- even as stand alone toy, May 26, 2006

My daughter got this for Christmas at 2 1/2- she still loves it. It's lots of fun to "Land" the plane and have it take off. My husband and I even really enjoy it. We've had older kids (9-11) come visit and they have really enjoyed it as well. Even though it doesn't connect to the tracks it's fun. Sometimes we don't want to have the entire train set up- this is nice because it doesn't take up as much space and it's easy to set up!

5.0 out of 5 stars round and round we go!, April 1, 2006

WOW! Our son lives next to an airbase and loves all things winged or propellered! We bought this to go along with the working town railway for his 2nd birthday. It can also be bought and used without the trainset as it is VERY fun by itself! Our son can operate the plane all on his own by pulling the control handle back...he can take off, fly for awhile (the plane goes around and around on a hinged arm and you can even control how high or low you want to fly!) and land back down on the runway. You can use other vehicles with it as well, there are sea planes, jets and helicoptors available (separately) and the set allows for different vehicles by allowing you to choose between helicoper, jet or propeller plane sound effects! The control tower even has blinking lights and beeps. It is VERY durable, as is all of the geotrax toys we've had experience with. I love the size, perfect for younger kids, and great practice with their motor skills. It is large enough to become "engulfed" in that world. Our son has spent hours "flying". We love that Fisher Price designed something for toddlers that is usually reserved for the "big kids". In fact, our whole family is a little crazy about this set...parents and 9 year old sister. It really brings us all together to play and create and we love it!
