Seems to me the "Little People" sub-brand comes in two versions, the high-quality, durable ones that promote hours of play (like the farm and the gargage) and the low-quality, poorly made ones that seems to take up space. this is one of those. The racetrack is made of flimsy plastic, takes up a lot of space for what it is (doesn't fold up or anything -- you have to take it completely apart if you want to store it). The car itself is pretty solid, but doesn't always function well.

This is perhaps one of the greatest presents I've ever given my nephew. He loves it and it's fun to watch him get so excited about the car (just the right size for him) and the racing. He especially enjoys "fixing" it.

My son received this for his first birthday! We all love it. It is so much fun to listen to the different sounds as the car makes its way around the track. It is easy to put together and he enjoys sitting in the middle of the race track playing with the car. It is a great idea for car enthusiasts..like us!

The worst of our Little People toys,
By

My kids (2 and 4) have had this for about a year. It hardly ever gets played with. The house, castle, garage, farm, zoo, barn, boat, circus, playground... everything else we've tried is a big hit. This has little if any creative play possibilites. My son loves to see things go, and this does move around the racetrack, but he gets bored with it as soon as we get it out. As another reviewer noted, it takes up a lot of space when it's taken apart into its four sections. We have not, however, had any problems with durability.

We love little people, and this one is a must have! It is so cute and with the push of the drivers head the car goes around the track. My 2 year old son loves it!!

Fun while it lasts (5 minutes or less),

My son got this for his 2nd birthday. He loved playing with the car. The racetrack itself is somewhat pointless as it does the same sequence of actions & noises every time around and gets old after just a few laps. However, he enjoyed playing with the car a great deal. Unfortunately, it broke after only about three days. One of the very tiny plastic gears inside lost half of it's teeth, so the toy would only move about an inch before needing to be pushed. We returned the toy and got a replacement only to have the replacement break in a completely different manner after only a few minutes of play. I haven't taken this one apart yet to see exactly what broke, but I can tell it's something electrical this time. We'll return this one for a refund. Most of the other "Little People" stuff is great, but I'd pass on this one.....

The first one of these we bought didn't work so we had to take it back, the car wouldn't move on it's own. The second one works but it moves VERY slowly around the track. By the second day it didn't even make it all the way around the track. So now it is sporatic as to how far it will go. The sounds all work fine and the track has held up great. My son is 3 and doesn't seem to mind the car stopping all the time. He loves to put other cars on the track and have them push each other around. When the car is working he lets it push the others around and really enjoys it. I gave this 5 stars for fun because my son really loves it despite it's faults but I only give it a 3 for everything else. For what it does, I don't think it's worth $20.

This has the look of a really entertaining toy, and in classic Fisher-Price style the characters and scenery are really cute. Unfortunately, the construction of the car's gearbox seems to be quite poor. Ours made it one time around the track before grinding to a halt. It still made all of the sounds and could be pushed, but would not power itself around even though you could hear the motor working. I took it apart and managed to fix it, but the cause was obvious: plastic gears that are easily stripped and in my opinion not up to the demands of this toy's age group. In particular, there are two small gears in a clutch mechanism (where it looks like forces could be quite high) that had bent teeth. Fortunately, I was able to straighten these teeth and reassemble the thing, and it now works, but who knows how long it will work. Fisher-Price: small gears in high-torque places should always be made of metal, and your spring clutch requires too much force to engage before the gears strip. Based on my experience and the similar experience of at least one other reviewer, I cannot recommend this toy, and that's a great disappointment because it really has tons of fun potential!

Broken Cars are no fun,

The car broke after just a couple of days. It won't go around the track without being pushed. It never held much interest for him. He loves watching a train so I thought it would be a hit but he was scared by the sounds when we first got it. It took up a great deal of space and was limited in it's play possibilities. Very disappointing.

My one year old got this as a First Birthday present - he loves cars and so he loves this toy but it went around on it own just twice or thrice. We have to push it a couple of times at each corner. Would have been a great toy if it had worked.
Really disappointing that it has hardly every worked. |
