This review is from: Fisher-Price Bubble Mower (Toy)
I bought this bubble mower for my three-year-old son. He was so excited that he had me wedge the big box on the floor in front of his seat so he straddled it for the half-hour ride home. Of course, we assembled it the moment we arrived home.
At first, it didn't blow bubbles, it just sputtered them in the wheel with the holes. We tried it many times (took way more than twenty steps - more like two hundred) and I noticed bubbles were trying to form but then they'd pop immediately. I re-read the directions several times. Fisher-Price is a trusted company and I was sure they wouldn't manufacture a toy that really didn't perform. I was getting pretty upset and my son was very disappointed. As a last resort, I took the mower and rinsed the bubble solution out and replaced it with a different brand of bubble solution. I almost didn't do it because I thought there was no way the 'engine' could be clogged - it was brand new! But it worked. Now my son pushes it only ten steps or so and it starts spitting out groups of bubbles just like the picture on the box. Apparently, it was the original bubble solution that caused the 'malfunction'. The solution I switched to was the huge 100 ounce Miracle Bubbles from Wal-Mart. But, even with this, you must be careful that the mower doesn't get shaken around a lot because if the bubble solution becomes foamy it will not blow bubbles. It does seem to take normal walking around very well. I hope this solution works for anyone else who bought this mower. It's really cute and my son loves it.

We just bought this toy for our 22 month old she loves pushing it all around and she loves the sound it makes, but there is no bubbles!!!! I went online to see if anyone else had this problem or it was just our individual toy, and read a review that suggested washing this toy out and changing solution. It works, with in 10 steps the bubbles started to come out just like on the picture. Its a very fun toy and my daughter loves it. Thank you for the suggestion.

for better bubbles, either dilute them, or simply make your own using dish soap, it works alot better, we had the same problem as everyone else-then we tried this

It Doesn't Work,

Like most everyone else, my son's mower doesn't blow bubbles either. My husband and I both read the directions, held the bottle down for (our instruction book says 15 seconds) the right amount of time and nothing. I rinsed the mower out and tried again but still nothing. We have used up all of the supplied solution. I even put some "homemade" solution with dish soap and rolled it in my living room and still no bubbles. I, too, was told by Fisher Price to take it back. I just exchanged it for a second one today. We will try it out tomorrow. I may try my daughter's Gymboree bubble solution (Bubble OOdles) in it-that stuff makes the best bubbles I have ever seen- if the supplied one doen't work again. I will update if I can get this new mower to work.

My son received this for his 2nd birthday a few weeks ago. He loves to mow just like his dad and is always asking to go outside to use his very own lawnmower. He even takes it with us on walks around the neighborhood. We have not had any problems with bubbles- you just have to push it continuously to get good bubbles. You won't get any bubbles if you only walk a step or two then stop. However, he loves it even when there are no bubbles- he just wants to mow. I love it because it is sturdy and not at all annoying like some other (talking) mowers on the market. I would absolutely recommend this toy!!

I think this is the worst toy Fisher Price has made. We usually love thier toys, but this one was a disappointment. We got it home and it took a while before any bubbles would come out. Finally it started to work, but it had to be pushed very fast. My daughter did not even notice the bubbles come out, because they come out the side and go right to the ground. I think they really should come out the top. It also leaked and made a mess all over the floor. If you are going to buy this don't use it inside or you will have a huge mess!!

Trying not to re-hash what others have said, I'll hit the following points:
- Definitely replace the bubbles with your own!!! We gave it a go with the originals just as an experiment - nope (they don't work well with regular bubble wands either, tried that!) and when we replaced it and pushed the mower for a bit, success! - Expect the bubbles to come out if this is tipped forward. But, it's a bubble toy, we expected that; you should too. - I didn't read much about the noise of the "running" mower, which my daughter loves because it sounds like it's running and goes for a second after you stop. - The wheels are pretty sturdy and big enough to run on our very bumpy lawn (by the way, the bubbles DID work on the lawn as well as the driveway, just have to move fast). - Our daughter loves the rabbit and turtle pictures on the top and will move the switch to each to show if she's going fast or slow. This helped us show her how to go "rabbit-fast" to make the bubbles come out - I suggest you try this if you aren't getting a good bubble stream. - Finally, even if the bubbles don't work, the sturdiness, noise, switches, non-"goofy" look, and overall quality of this mower makes it a worthwhile buy. After all, it's basically the same price as others.

Great toy, my two year old son loves. We have had no problems with it it all. No leaks, blows lots of bubbles. I did refill with miracle bubbles and infinite bubbles. Both of which are better than the one it comes with. You have to be sure to depress the bottle once inserted for 15 seconds or so to fill the reservoir inside the toy.

Messy and the bubble portion doesn't work,

I bought this for my 2-year old. She's taller than your 'average' 2-year old, so the handles were a bit short. The day we brought it home, we put the bubbles that came with it, in the slot and never got any bubbles to come out. She pushed it in the grass, on the sidewalk...nothing! Then all the bubble mixture was pouring out the side of the lawn mower. I hosed it off and let her play with it. It does make a great "mowing" sound that I don't think any of the other models make. Fun for imaginary play if you don't care that the bubbles won't come out and the handle is a bit on the shorter side. Needless to say, we will most likely return it and buy one that does not blow bubbles.

first off if your looking for a bubble mower then look else where but if you want a mower that runs over every surface with just the right amount of balance on the front and the back then you found the one your looking for. Grass, thick carpet or gravel this mower plowed over all of it!!! The mower is sturdy and made a hard bright colored plastic, it makes a great mower sound when push and best of all requires no power source to produce the sound. If your wonder about the bubble portion of the mower then read all the other reviews, i've yet to use the bubble portion of this product and to be honest i have no plans to in the near future.
