Love 'Em!!,
This review is from: Fisher-Price Private Connection Monitor (Baby Product)
Finally a product from Fisher Price that is worth the money!! These are the second set of Fisher Price monitors we have purchased and are loving them - unlike the first set. We especially love having 10 different channels to select from, reception display, battery display, rechargable batteries, low battery alarm, terminal/reciever disconnection alarm, and most of all clear sound and NO static. We struggled for months with another model of monitors from Fisher Price and ultimately ended up purchasing these upon recommendation from family. We are glad to ditch the other ones and are completely happy with these!!

This monitor is pretty good. It pick up my little one's little noises so I can get to her before she awakens. It does have a clicking sound with it if the reception in less then 4 bars (which it is less then 4 bars most of the time as my house is long). I do have high praise for the Fisher Price exchange service. I had bought a monitor before my little one was born and so therefor didn't use it until after the 30 day return allowance from Amazon was up. Then after about 6 hours of use the monitor stopped working. I was able to send it to Fisher-Price and they exchanged it in less then ten days! (no questions asked)

We've been using the monitor for a couple months and have found it to be an average product. My main problem is the receiever isn't very sensitive. You have to turn the volume way up in order to hear sounds in the baby's room. But the more you turn up the volume the more static you hear. So every night before bed we adjust the volume to be low enough that the static doesn't keep us awake and high enough that we actually hear the baby when she makes noise. It's annoying. We had a Sony monitor that had a feature where it only made noise when the baby made noise - otherwise it was totally silent. I wish all monitors had that feature.

I bought this monitor to replace my Sound and Lights monitor because it was picking up the neighbor's house instead of mine. The 10 channels on this monitor make sure that I don't have that problem anymore. The best part about this monitor is that it actually does work outside like it's supposed to. Our old sound and lights was supposed to, but wouldn't even work if you just stepped out onto the porch. This private connection monitor I can take all the way down to the mail box or my husband can set it up in the garage while he's doing projects and the reception is great!

Stopped working the first day, TWICE!,

I purchased this monitor as an upgrade to the one I've been using for the past year. After doing all the requisite research, it seemed like the right product. After opening it, I read the directions before even turning it on (I almost always read the manuals). Per the directions, which state that the receiver should be charged for 10-12 hours before first use, I charged it for 11 hours. I set it up, tested it out, and it seemed fine. It worked for approximately 5 minutes before the receiver went blank. Nothing I did could bring it back to life. So I figured maybe this was just a dud and I exchanged it for a replacement (thanks to Amazon's easy-to-use return system).
The second one arrived, I did everything the same except I only charged the receiver for around 10 hours, just to be safe. Set it up and tested it, no problems. It worked fine for the first nap. Fifteen or so minutes into the second nap the receiver started giving the "no reception" alert. No idea why. After the nap I went into the nursery and saw that the receiver was no longer showing any channel. Attempts to turn it on and off, change the channel, etc. did nothing. I don't think I've ever had this kind of problem before, where the same product failed twice, in two different ways, within hours of the first use. This product is obviously not reliable and I would hesitate to buy any Fisher-Price monitor now. Luckily I still had my old monitor or else I would have been spending my days and nights sitting outside the nursery door!

We've gone through two of these thinking the first was just a fluke. We've ended up buying another one from a different manufacturer. The first one had problems with the reciever. The second one would not turn on well. I would flip the switch several times before it would turn on. Then it started losing signal when we were 20 feet away. It would be fine one second and then beeping the next that it had lost reception. Now it won't even turn on. When I've called customer service they said they would send us a voucher for a new one but we've never recieved a thing from them. And that was after trying to hard to get in touch with them. My husband and I are very displeased.

Cheap Electronics,

I've only had it 4 months and one receiver doesn't turn on and the other one turns on only after several attempts. Reception is good though. Get a clock that goes tick-tock and put in the baby's room (so you know it's working) for extra peace of mind.

After my Sony monitor suddenly stopped working after a year and a half I decided to try my luck with the Fisher Price. Bad decision... this monitor barely lasted a month before it suddenly stopped working. When it did work it was OK, but the sound quality was not as good as the Sony.
