It’s designed to be opened without the use of a box cutter or knife and will protect your product just as well as traditional packaging during shipping. The Frustration-Free Packaging on this toy eliminates 5 pieces of packaging, including 41.75 square inches of paper and 233 square inches of plastic and replaces them with recyclable corrugated material. This item ships in its own box, without the need for an additional shipping box.

What We Think

Fun Factor:

Durability:

(what this means)

The Good: Durable, easy way for kids to experience photography

The Bad: May seem bulky in little hands

In a Nutshell: This Fisher-Price camera really is Kid Tough.
At a Glance

Ages: 3 and up
Requires: Four AAA batteries
Easy to Start Taking Pictures
An adult will need to use a screwdriver to install the four AAA batteries before kids get their hands on this camera. With a textured button on the front that releases the shutter and large buttons on the back that let little hands turn the camera on and off, browse through pictures and delete images, using this camera is so easy it doesn't need to come with instructions.

The fun, brightly colored body helps distinguish this camera from boring adult models, making it an instant favorite.

Kid-Friendly Technology
Kids can pick between using the live view on a 1.5-inch color LCD preview screen or looking through the two-eye viewer when taking pictures. The preview screen also lets kids look at pictures the moment after they take them. With a built-in flash that automatically illuminates darkened scenes, and a shutter noise that makes it easy to know when a picture has been taken, kids are sure to be delighted by their images.

The 64 MB built-in memory stores up to 500 pictures and eliminates the need for handling fragile and expensive memory cards. Two image resolution settings, 0.3 and 1.3 interpolated mega pixels, let kids take plenty of pictures and make 4 x 6-inch prints.

Fun, Durable Way to Encourage Creativity
With its big rubberized grips and sturdy construction, we found this camera lived up to its incredibly durable reputation. Able to easily withstand being dropped again and again and waterproof for 30 minutes in up to three feet of water, this camera can handle the rough reality of active play.

The heavy-duty construction that makes this camera so durable can also make it seem somewhat bulky for little hands, but this won't prevent kids from wanting to take it on all their adventures.

Older children and adults may be disappointed by the image quality, but higher resolutions would allow less pictures to be stored and decrease the amount of fun children have with this camera. Kids quickly find that there's plenty of resolution for exercising creative urges and documenting the wonders of everyday life.

The camera comes with a USB cable so pictures can be downloaded quickly and easily for editing and viewing. It is compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Apple Mac OSX, Apple Mac OS9 and requires a USB port 1.1 or higher for computer connectivity.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broke after two weeks, September 18, 2008
This review is from: Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera Pink [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] (Toy)
I purchased this camera for my children (6,4 & 2 yrs old) They loved it! Especially that it had a screen where they could actually see the picture they took. I wanted a camera that was durable. It uses up batteries pretty fast. And after 2 weeks, the camera just stopped working. My kids did not drop it or even play rough with it. I tried different batteries, but it just would not turn on. What an expensive mistake I made buying this camera. For something that is supposed to be kid-tough, I don't think it is at all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well, whaddya want?, May 29, 2008
This review is from: Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera Pink [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] (Toy)
I'm glad it's cheaper than the original Kid Tough camera. I've never used the original or tried the Vtech brand...the resolution does suck. My phone is smaller and takes better pictures. It has been through drops and still works. Haven't tested it's waterproof feature yet. My daughter is 3 and is very petite. She has a hard time positioning her fingers to apply enough pressure on the shutter button. She also gets too excited about the shutter noise. As soon as she hears it, she thinks it's done and all of the images come out blurry. We'll work on that. I have to keep getting a screwdriver to open the battery port which includes the miniUSB port every time I transfer the pictures. I wish there was a wrist strap. Well, it's fun to her and her almost 2 yr old sister. I don't have to worry about them breaking my $1500 digital camera anymore.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We just got this for our 8 year old and she loves it. I went with this one from the other fisher price one due to this one was only $45.00 compared to $70 range for the one on the Fisher Price web site. This one differs in that it does not have a SD slot. It does have 64mb of flash memory which lets it hold 170 pictures at the hightest quaility which is 640 x 480. It does seem to go through the batteries quick, but that could be because my daughter took over 200 pictures in an hour and looked at some and deleted some from the camera. It does have a built in flash. I have not downloaded any pictures to the computer yet. The instructions say it will be detected as a mass storage device. It does not come with any software but does have the usb cable to connect it.
