I was skeptical of purchasing this item, since although Fisher-Price is a great brand, there haven't been the greatest reviews on some of the other "Kid Tough" items. But I am SO GLAD I did! This was purchased as a birthday present for my 3 year old. He loves music, and I had contemplated buying him an Ipod Touch for his birthday for the music and games, but instead purchased this and Leapster Explorer. It holds a good amount of music, around 50-60 songs, depending on the length. The sound is loud but not too loud. The microphone is cute and my son loves to sing along with his music. It is VERY durable, and I don't worry about my son playing with it, even though drops are inevitable. The setup is very simple, you download software from fisher price and then it has a very simple uploader for your songs. Overall, I think this is a great choice for any child who loves music and has their favorite songs. The battery power leaves a bit to be desired, so I would invest in rechargeable batteries.

We bought two of these for our children for Christmas and I spent 2 hours trying to upload music onto it from my Mac. I could see that the songs were on there when I viewed them on the screen, however when I would push play it never would play and it quickly shuffled through each song ending back at number one. I thought it was broken so I called Fisher Price. I found that they are having an engineer problem with Macs. I re-did everything on my husbands PC and it worked perfectly. I was so relieved and SO excited to give it to them!

I bought this radio for my 2 year old grandson who LOVES music and LOVES buttons! Now instead of pushing the buttons on grandma's radio he has his own. The sound is great and it is very durable -- which is a requirement for 2 year olds! Every time he comes to grandma's house the first thing he looks for is his radio. He dances and jumps and claps and has the best time. This is a great toy. Grandpa is very computer savvy and uploaded four whole CD's of kid's music. We like it so much we are buying a second one so he can have one at home, too.

First of all I LOVE this thing but I've already had a few issues after only having it for about two days. I bought this for my 2year old niece for Christmas. She LOVES music and will enjoy this toy to no end especially the microphone although I agree the button on the mic is a bit small. Even though she's a girl, I decided to buy the "boy's version" of the toy because for some reason the all pink version shot up to $80 between when I first starting looking into buying this. I decided that was too much so I got the blue one and it's fine. It's not boyish AT ALL so it might be a good idea for anyone looking to shave off some of the price. Also, the space is more than adequate for a young child. I've already gotten over 45 songs on it and there's still space to go.Now for my issues: I purchased this item brand NEW from Amazon directly - not a third party seller - and took it out of the box as soon as it arrived to download music on it before I gift-wrap it for my niece. I was very disappointed to find that there are small scratches on it and the paint on the mic is chipped !!! This was supposed to be brand new? Also, I had no problem downloading the music, the sound is great, the mic is awesome and I've been having a ball playing with this thing - (my niece may have to take turns with me on christmas morning) but for some reason when I press play, it skips from the first song to the 8th!! Why is that? None of the files I used were corrupt so I don't get it. I can't find an explanation to the issue anywhere online either so I may just have to stick with it. Overall I would've given this toy a 5. I can't wait for my niece to open this on Christmas and I know she'll love it but so far I've had 2 small issues so I marked it down 2 stars. Sorry.

This Fisher Price Kid Tough Music Player is compatible with Macs! I've figured out how to get this music player to work when Fisher Price tech support was of little help.I have a MacBook with OS 10.5.6, and iTunes for both iTunes purchased music and downloaded CDs. My music files are coded as AAC files which are compatible with this device. I downloaded the Fisher Price Mac music player software from the site that is listed in the music player manual. Once installed on your hard drive, all you need to do is connect the music player via the USB port and turn the music player on. The Fisher Price software will automatically activate a window on your desktop where your music from iTunes will be automatically searched and your songs will appear in the "My Library" portion of the window. The "My Player" window will show any music already on the music player and this is where you will see five pre-loaded Fisher Price songs. Select the music you wish to download on your music player from "My Library" by clicking on the empty box next to each song, or you may opt to "Select All" just above your library listing. Click on the green arrow when you are ready to transfer the files from your library to the music player. This will take several minutes to complete. In the "My Player" window, you will now see a listing of all the songs you just downloaded onto the music player. Close the Fisher Price software window and "eject" the music player from your desktop by dragging the "F-P" device icon to your Trash. Allow your music player to `boot' by waiting until the music icons on its display disappear and you see the listing for the first song. Push the play button and you may experience the music player scrolling through all of the songs and not playing any of the songs. If this happens, follow these steps: 1. Reconnect the music player to your Mac via the USB port. Turn the music player on. 2. When the Fisher Price window launches, you will see "My Library" with all of the songs from your iTunes. Visually confirm the songs you just downloaded from your computer are listed in "My Player." 3. Scroll to the top of the "My Player" list and delete any files that contain a period, an underscore, a number, and a song title. For example: .__02itsybitsy 4. Close the Fisher Price software window, eject the music player from your desktop, and wait for the music player to boot. Once the music player window presents the listing for your first song, press play. It should work.

Why is this thing $85. I have been watching it for a while and just a few weeks ago it was $45 on amazon. At fisherprice.com, it says it retails for $50. Does anyone know where I could get it for the MSRP? Thanks

I bought this for my two-year-old for Christmas. As he had just turned two, I worried that this toy might be too sophisticated for him. I was wrong. He has no problem operating it and loves having control over the music that he listens to. Often he toddles off to his bedroom where he lounges on the floor and listens to songs. I swear he went from two to teenager overnight! This toy is very educational as well. My son's vocabulary has picked up immensely since he started listening to this player and he can even sing several of the songs that I loaded for him.As with every toy, nothing is perfect. Here are my list of cons about this player: - No automatic shut-off. If my son walks away from this toy, it continues to play. Once I realized that it had been left on for two days. It's too bad there's not a feature that allows for automatic shut-off if you choose. - Some songs didn't load, or loaded without the voices (karaoke style). I have no idea why "Boogie Wonderland" won't load, but it won't. I purchased it from iTunes and also Amazon music but both versions refused to load onto the player. My son loves this song so it was disappointing that I cannot get it to play on this player. Also, I had an entire CD of children's songs that I loaded into iTunes with no problem but on the player only the music plays, not the voices. So strange. I can find nothing online to tell me why this is happening (except possible copyright conflicts) and nothing in the player software warned me that this was going to happen. In other words, even if you load the music exactly as the instructions dictate, you may have problems. I'm still giving this product five stars, however. My son loves it so much that it's not a big deal to me that a few songs won't load.

We just purchased this item for our 2 year old son and downloaded some music for him...he loves it! It comes with 5 songs which are fine, but it is also quite easy to download additional songs. To download the software you go to the fisher price website, and they ask whether you have a Mac or PC. We have a Mac and it worked fine. (I read some reviews that software is not mac compatible... it appears that this has changed as they do give you the option to download Mac software.) The software then searches for music on your computer, and you select which music you want to download. Can't really speak to the durability of this item as we just received it.It also has a little digital screen which tells you what song is playing. The buttons are quite easy for a 2 year old to use. Overall great product!

My daughter has been very pleased with this music player - we have had no issues with durability, volume, ease-of-use for her, etc. She and her brother love being able to choose their own music and are facinated by the microphone. They've gotten lots of use out of this already in the two months or so that we've had it!However, as others have pointed out it is true that the software does not work with a Mac, despite assurances printed on the box that it will When we downloaded and used the Fisher Price software as instructed here is what happened to us (December 2010); -The software downloads without a problem -You can add songs to the player from the interface and that works fine -When you try to play the songs it immediately jumps to the last song THEN -It gets stuck and won't play anything at all The work-around that I found online was to plug the player into my computer - and wait for it to appear as a drive - then simply drag and drop iTunes files into the "drive" for the music player. This operation was infinitely simpler than using the Fisher Price software and worked like a charm!

I bought this for my son's 2nd birthday - he LOVES it. I had been looking for an MP3 player with a microphone for awhile and was thrilled when Fisher-Price came out with this. My son easily operates the toy and plays music on it all the time. Great toy.
